“Suck his cock?” Someone shouted.

Kyler scrunched his nose. “No. No. This was a silly, innocent bet.”

A few more shouted out answers, but Kyler only shook his head. “I had to dance with scarves on a table.”

Gavin held his breath. He wondered if the story was true. If at some point he had danced for someone, with or without scarves.

“That’s a better reward than what I’d have come up with.” Leander smiled and lifted his wine goblet to his lips.

Kyler nodded. “I enjoy dancing. Rather, excel at it, to be honest, so I didn’t mind. I hopped up on the table, took the scarves and started swaying my hips.” He turned to Gavin. “Should I show them?”

The room boomed in agreement.

“We don’t have any scarves for you,” Ambrose said. “Pity.”

Kyler climbed onto the table, careful not to step in dishes or goblets. Turning to face Gavin again, he crooked a finger and beckoned him closer. Then pressed a kiss to him when he obliged. Skies, those sweet lips drew him in.

“Dance for me, Kyler.”

“You were supposed to stop me,” he whispered.

“I want to see it for myself.” Gavin winked and waved him on.

Kyler pulled away with a groan. “Now I’m sure you’re wondering what this all has to do with meeting our beloved prince.” Standing tall, facing his audience, he held his arms at shoulder level, and cocked out a hip. “But who, I ask, can resist the sway of a body?” With a rolling action, he cocked the other hip. His hands soft, he continued to the beat of music only he heard. Feet followed a pattern it took Gavin moments to memorize. Kyler was so graceful.

“Oh. But I was incredibly drunk, so I’m sure I looked more like…” Kyler changed his steps to a chaotic, arm flailing dance Gavin imagined an octopus would perform. The hall went back to laughing.

“That’s more like what I remember,” Gavin said.

Kyler was close to the edge of the table now, giving Gavin heart palpitations. He didn’t want to see Kyler hurt.

“Since I was so drunk, I wasn’t as balanced as I am now and…” He threw a hand to his forehead, spun, and dropped from the table. Gavin was right there to catch him. “Gavin saved me from breaking anything. After that, I’m sure you all can fill in the blanks.”

“Yes, I stayed with you all night to make sure no one harassed you while you sobered up.”

“A perfect gentleman.”

Gavin sat him on the edge of the table and kissed him deeply. Ground into him. Forgetting the audience until Leander cleared his throat.

“Clearly.” Ambrose clamped a hand on Gavin’s shoulder before going back to his seat.

Kyler’s eyes were so wide, his chest moved quickly with his breath. Gavin had gotten carried away. Servants came in from a side door and Gavin pushed away from the table, then offered his hand to Kyler. He took it and the pair went back to Gavin’s seat, where Kyler sat in his lap again.

Servants set two bowls and spoons in front of them, then hurried back through the door. Kyler glared at the spoon, but Gavin had decided how to fix the pesky problem of his table manners.

Kyler nuzzled up to him. “Was the story too much?” When he pulled away, there was a glint of mischief in his eyes.

“I rather enjoyed it.” Gavin filled a spoon. “But I want to know the real story sometime.”

Kyler swallowed. “The real story doesn’t have such a happy ending.”

“You don’t have to share it.” Gavin offered him the spoon, and Kyler took it greedily, lapping at it when Gavin drew it away. That pink tongue darted across his lips to lick away stray bits. Gavin couldn’t help another kiss.

When they broke away, Kyler pressed his cheek to Gavin’s jaw. “I didn’t make the bet.” He spoke so quietly, Gavin couldn’t breathe if he wanted to hear. “Vex had. Against three dragon shifters. Then when he failed to drink them under the table, they demanded he follow through with sucking their cocks.”

“Did he?”

Kyler huffed out a breath. “I think you know the answer to that.”
