“Holy fuck. I just got an interview for my dream job.”
The biggest smile lights up Shae’s face. “I’m so proud of you!”
I lean in and box him against the wall to kiss him over and over again. “I think you’re my lucky duck.”
That makes him laugh, and I nuzzle his neck. “Come on, shower time. Let’s get squeaky clean.”

I’m so excited that Trace has an interview someplace he’s excited about. I still don’t know what my future looks like. I’ve auditioned for a few orchestras, and my social media is highly popular, but sometimes I still wonder what the hell I’m doing with my life. But without music, I’d have nothing.
Trace licks along my throat and I tip my head to give him better access. I’ll never get enough of his mouth on me. Wherever it roams. He tugs me to the bathroom and we strip each other. But I eye his shower. It’s a typical small apartment shower, and I doubt we’ll both fit comfortably. I don’t think either of us cares, though.
He tugs me into the tub and starts the water, sucking in a breath when the icy water hits him. At least it heats quickly as we kiss under the spray. He’s awakened a beast in me and the beast demands kisses from Trace.
I don’t think I have another round in me, I’ve been so tired from running around. Trace must understand, or he feels the same way, because he squirts shampoo into my hair and scrubs my scalp. I practically purr under his fingertips it feels so good. He’s so careful to keep the shampoo out of my eyes and so gentle rinsing it out. Then he’s scrubbing me clean and while I want to rally for more fun, I just can’t. He’s sporting a semi, but he bats my hand away when I reach for him.
“Not enough energy.”
I don’t know if he’s saying it for my benefit, but I don’t fight him and do my part in washing his hair. Happy he lets me wash his beautiful body.
The water feels so damn good, until it shifts back to cold and we scramble to get out. Trace drips water everywhere when he grabs fresh towels from the linen closet.
I can’t wait to be wrapped in his arms again in bed. We don’t even bother putting on pajamas.
Trace grabs his phone and reads over the interview itinerary. My heart wants to stop at the thought of the possibility of him leaving me. But he kisses my thoughts away. He moved homefor me. There’s no way a job will rip us apart, right?
“Eight a.m. is so early for me.” Trace yawns.
“Then we gotta get to sleep so you can get some rest.”
Our hair is still wet, but Trace doesn’t seem to mind as he tugs me down and wraps around me. It’s the best way to fall asleep.
Chapter 19
Trace
Frazzled doesn’t even begin to explain my feelings. I got up with Shae, who is unfortunately pulling a double because one of the morning shift elves called in sick. Now I’m looking over my notes while Shae gets ready. He flitters over to me and kisses my cheek, no doubt leaving a bit of sparkle on my skin.
“You’re going to blow them away, Tracy. Remember to smile. And just be yourself.”
I pull him down for another kiss. “Thanks. Have a good day. I’ll let you know how things go.”
“Sounds good.” Another peck to my nose and Shae leaves me to my thoughts.
At eight a.m. right on the dot, Levi calls. He’s dressed in a button-up shirt and jacket with a tie and I feel out of place in my blue polo shirt.
“Trace, how’s it going?”
“Little bit nervous, but otherwise good.” I don’t know if that’s too real for an interview, but Levi laughs.
“I don’t bite, not at all. Relax. You have an incredible portfolio, so let’s get into this.”
And we do. For the next three hours. It doesn’t feel like an interview and I’m not sure if that’s good or bad. Levi is easy to talk to and his questions put me at ease, even the difficult ones where he gives me a problem to solve.
“Alrighty, just a few more questions. How do you feel about working in the California office?”
