“That rhymed! Lexi Lou is cute, too.”
I snort and unlock the doors. “Come on, get in.” I open his door for him and he slides in gracefully.
Instead of sitting, he pushes to his knees and crawls over to the driver’s seat. His ass is on perfect display in his skirt. It just grazes the bottom of his buttcheeks. There’s something about his complete obliviousness to how sexy he is. How perfectly he’s been molded.
“—this?” He settles behind the steering wheel and rubs his hands along the fuzzy pink wheel cover.
“Sorry, what was that?”
“You were looking at my butt, weren’t you?”
“Guilty.”
“You like my butt? Is it pretty? AmIpretty?” He crawls back to me, those green eyes hooded.
“Noxie, you’re gorgeous.”
“Noxie?” He tips his head. “Love it.” He launches himself at me, and my arms are full of a Nightmare rubbing himself against me. He feels right in my arms. Nox looks up at me with his big eyes. “Can we kiss again?”
How the hell can I deny the request? I want it, too. I nod and his lips are on mine. Again, this feels so right. Little zaps of electricity fly through me like they used to with Mick. I don’t want to think about him, though. Nox moans as I settle him back into the seat.
“Let’s go on a little adventure.” I have time before I have to be in bed for work and I love spending time with my Nightmare. I click his seatbelt in place and he clutches it.
“What is this?” He frowns as he pulls it away from him and lets it slap against him.
“It’s a seatbelt, to well, keep you safe. Even though you don’t need it, you gotta wear it in case we get pulled over.”
“Okay.” He lets go of the seatbelt and drops his hands into his lap. “I’ll be good.”
I go around the truck to slide into the driver’s seat. “Let’s roll down the windows.”
When I do, he immediately tries to stick his head out and gets stopped by the seatbelt, choking him. “I don’t like this contraption.”
“I know, but please wear it for me?” I hold out my hand and he threads his fingers with mine.
“I will. I’m excited! Let’s go! Let’s go!” He wiggles in his seat.
“Sorry, I need my hand for just a sec so I can put us into gear. We’ll go around some back roads. There’s some pretty scenery.”
Nox pouts when he lets me go, but I get us turned around and going in the right direction as fast as I can so I can give him my hand back.
“Oh! Maybe on our way home we can go to my place and you can meet Dani! New experiences for both of us!”
I swallow back nerves. Meeting his best friend is a lot. I give him a noncommital nod. “Maybe.”
“You may not have met Dani yet, but youknowDani. Everyone does. He’s the pretty face of Monster Match. The guy on the billboard behind Portal Place Diner. He’s basically a celebrity.”
My mouth drops open. “No way.” Everyone knows Danilo Diaz.Everyone.
“Yes, way! And he dates my other best friend Maddox. He’s an orc!”
“I’ve met Maddox. What are the odds? We work out together at Talley’s. Did they find each other on Monster Match like we did?”
