I press my hands to his cheeks and go in for a kiss. The entire room seems to explode in sparkles around me. His eyes are closed so I can’t ask if he saw them, too.
Cyrus moans into our kiss and I want to live in a world made up of this sound and his mouth on mine. Nothing else matters. His tongue licks at my lips. I let him in and all thought leaves my brain. Why have I been missing out on this for all of eternity? I shake my head. I’ve never wanted anything like this with anyone before Cyrus.
His hands roam my back, pulling me closer as if that’s possible. I rip off my shirt, wanting his hands on my bare skin. Cyrus moans as he takes me in, then he nibbles from my jaw, down my throat.
I throw my head back and clutch at him as he suckles my collarbone. More. More. More!
“Your skin is so soft,” Cyrus whispers against me.
“Don’t stop.” I weave my fingers through his hair and arch into his kisses.
“You like this?”
“So much. Don’t stop. Please.” I’m surprised I’m a beggar, but don’t stop to think about it too much. Everything makes me tingle from my head to my toes. I don’t know what to do with my hands, so I slide them under his shirt, making him freeze.
“Shirt stays on for now.” As if I hadn’t interrupted, Cyrus laves at my other collarbone.
I writhe against him, losing myself in his soft touches. It’s me that’s left gasping for air I don’t even need.
Cyrus cups the back of my head and I grip his shirt as he goes back to kissing my lips. It’s as if he can see into my soul and suck out the marrow of pleasure. What is even happening?
“Holy hell.” Cyrus pulls away, panting. His chest heaves as he leans his head on my shoulder.
“Is that bad? Did I do it wrong?”
“No.” He grabs my face and kisses me again, back to the slow and sweet before he drops his head to the headboard. “I wish I’d found you first. It’s like electricity under my skin. I’ve never experienced anything like it before.” He chuckles as he stares at the ceiling, but tears well in his eyes. “I’m messed up, Nox. I don’t deserve good things like you.”
“What? Why? You’re… You’re amazing.” Anyone that’s met me knows I’m not the best with words, but I have to try harder. “You’re so nice. You don’t make fun of me with all my sparkles. Never once said anything about my skirts. It’s like you look right into me and see the Nightmare I am, and that’s enough.”
“Itisenough.”
“Then why can’tyoudeserve good things, Cy? Why can’t you be enough just like this?” I press his palm to my chest, where my heart would be if I were human. “I’m a literal Nightmare. I’ve terrified humans for eons. But you tell me I’m a good person and I believe you.”
“You’retoogood for me, is the problem.”
“That can’t be a thing! You love babies! I hate them. They’re creepy, little, weird creatures. See, I’m not too good.”
“I do this all the time. Sabotage a good thing.”
“No. No. Everything is fine. I want to keep kissing you. Keep hanging out. Keep getting to know you. I’ve only scratched the surface of Cyrus. I need to dig deep into you and root around.” Because I’m starting to think this fated mates thing might be real, and I need more evidence.
“Really?”
I lean into him and kiss his nose. “Really. I don’t care if you think you’re messed up, Cy. I’ve seen messed up. I devour it, or have you forgotten I look into people to uncover their biggest fears?”
He gives me the smallest smile. Just the tiniest before dropping his head on my shoulder again.
“Cyrus, I think you’re the sweetest, sweet guy in all of Rivenfield.”
“That’s not possible. Because you’re the sweetest.” Cyrus goes back to kissing me. “I’m sorry for making things weird.”
“I live for weird.” I kiss his nose. I love how adorable it is when his cheeks flush every time I do it. His pupils widen and I almost miss the blue, but I know it’s a sign of how much he likes me. “Should we do something about our penises?”
He bursts out laughing and I can’t help joining him, not exactly sure what’s so funny. I’m hard and I don’t like it, but I’ll keep from touching myself if I need to.
Once he’s done laughing it up, he kisses me again. “Have you ever had a blow job?”
My eyes go wide. “Blow job? Like… you just blow on it? How does that do anything?” I lean over to do just that, but he bites off another laugh. Danidid notcover blow jobs.
