“Rory?” Jacob calls from the background.
“Sorry, Jacob. I’m just so excited! Clay is Milo’s Daddy now.”
I love the way that sounds. Daddy Clay is mine. For now.
“Did he give you a goodnight kiss? Was it good?”
I shake my head. “No kiss yet. I’m not ready and I think he knows that.”
“Gah, he’sperfectfor you.”
He really is, but I’m still trying to be reserved with my feelings. Still trying to process everything because it’s only beentwodays. “He knows about… my weirdness around sex.”
“It’s not weird. You’re not weird, Milo. Everything is a spectrum and if?—”
I snort laugh. “I know, and Clay said the same thing. I just feel so weird being in my thirties and not knowing what the hell is going on.”
“Nothing is going on. You’re the exact Milo you need to be and that includes no sex until you’re ready. Just like I’m a strict side. We embrace who we are, Milo. There’s no other way.”
“I know. You’re right.”
“Of course I am.” He yawns. “Sorry ‘bout that.”
“No. No. I’ll let you go. See ya tomorrow. Night night.”
“Goodnight, Milo.”
I slide into bed and plug in my phone. “Draky we had a really good day after all.” I snuggle into him and pass out.
Chapter 9
Milo
I hadthe best sleep in months last night, and I’m sure it has to do with Clay. I scrub the towel through my hair as I walk back to my bedroom. My phone buzzes.
Clay: Good morning sweet Milo
I grin at the screen. What is this man doing to me? I can hear the door to his apartment open and shut. Before I think too hard about it, I rush out my door. He’s just locking up.
“Good morning, Clay.”
Clay’s smile lights up his face. Izzy steps into view.
“Oh, and Izzy! Hi!”
“Well, aren’t you just too cute,” Izzy says. Her eyes drop over my body and for some silly reason, I preen. Clay’s bestie thinks I’m cute. Even if I’m just in a pair of skinny jeans and a festive Christmas t-shirt. “Where are you off to?”
“Doyle’s Dandy Books.”
“Ah, I remember that place,” Izzy says. “I didn’t realize that’s where you worked, though.”
“You’ve been there?”
“It’s been a long time, but yeah. I used to go there every day after working with my father.” She makes a face, but quicklygrins back at me. “I enjoyed talking to Rory before he went off to college. Such a cutie.”
“He’s one of my best friends.”
“Is he now? Love that! I’ll have to remember to swing by when I move back into town.”
