“Pizza is yummier!” I make Gerold say. I shake my head. “Dinosaurs don’t eat pizza!” I wiggle Gerold. “I do!”

We play for who knows how long, but my eyes start to get droopy and I let go of whichever dinosaur I’d been playing with. I curl my arms under my head and close my eyes. It’s sleepy time.

“Milo?” Daddy Clay whispers. He pets my cheek so gently, and I crack an eye open. “What do you need to get ready for bed? You can’t sleep out here. You’ll wake up with a backache.”

“You think of all the things.” I rub my eyes. “I need to clean up first.”

“I can do that. Does everything go back into the box?”

I nod. “Be right back.” I rush to my bedroom to change into pajamas. That was the best playtime I’ve had in a long time. I’m refreshed and ready to take on the world when I wake up. My phone says it’s ten pm and I sort of feel a little bad about taking all of Clay’s time again, but I’m sure if he needed or wanted to leave, he would have. I take a deep breath and head back out to the living room, where Clay’s still playing with a pair of dinosaurs, making me laugh. “You’re the best.” I launch myself at him.

“Ooafff.”

“You really made my day so much better. I really appreciate it.”

“Anytime, sweetheart.” He kisses the top of my head, making me swoon. He’s the nicest person ever and at least through the month he’s my Daddy. “That said, I’d like our date tomorrow to be in Big space, is that okay?”

“You still want to go on a date with me?” I don’t know why it surprises me so much.

“Of course. I want to get to know you, Milo.”

I nibble my bottom lip. “I’ve never actually been on a date. I don’t know how to date. I want to though.”

“I do too. How about I pick you up at—” His brows scrunch and he laughs. “How about I knock on your door at seven or seven-thirty and I’ll take you out?”

“Okay. Seven-thirty would be good. If you’re okay with that?”

“Absolutely.”

“Clay?”

“Yeah?”

“What happens at the end of the month?” I already know I don’t want him to stop being my Daddy. I want to explore all the things with him.

“We talk everything through and decide if we want to keep going. We talk whenever anything comes up, okay? If I do something you’re not comfortable with, we talk. Same if you do something I’m not comfortable with. Communication is the key to making things work. But sometimes people still aren’t compatible. We just need to be open with each other. Okay?”

“Perfect.” How is he so freaking perfect?

“Good.” Clay squeezes me tight. “Alright, sweet Milo. I think it’s time for bed.” He yawns and I follow with one of my own. “I can’t wait for our official date.” He winks, and my heart flutters.

“Me, too. Work is going to be so long.” I lead him to the door. “Thank you for tonight. You’re amazing.” Before he can say anything, I hug him tight, loving the way he hugs me back. It’s like all my cares melt away.

“I’m happy I could help.” He kisses the top of my head and we pull apart. “Till tomorrow, sweet Milo.”

“Tomorrow,” I whisper.

I wait for him to close his door before I shut mine. Is it too late to text Rory? I need to talk to someone about the night I just had. I spin on my toes. Clay wants to be my Daddy.Ismy Daddy. At least until the end of the month. I’m going to be the best Little for him. Even if we don’t work out, at least I’ll have experience with a Daddy for longer than a few hours.

Milo: Clay just blew my whole mind. He came over and we played. And he’s going to be my Daddy for the month. What is life?

The dots don’t wiggle. No. He calls me.

“OH EM GEE!!WHAT?!” He whisper screams.

I relay the day back to him and he giggle the entire time.

“Ahhhh you found your Daddy!”
