Yeah, nope! Not happy! “Like, when I’m sleeping? Please tell me I will not wake up to a vampire hovering over my bed with blood-red eyes while I am getting my beauty rest.”
Finn chuckled and continued to sign papers.
I sighed.
I swear, my pixie luck had definitely tanked lately.
“Can I have a lemon-lime soda, please?” I really needed something with caffeine, but pixie alcohol would have to work.
Finn looked across at me, grimacing a little in distaste. Yeah, shifters weren’t big on soda.
“Isn’t it a little early for you to be drinking?” he asked.
“No! It’s soda!” I defended.
He tutted. Like, seriously tutted like a ninety-year-old granny. “You and I both know that the high fructose corn syrup in sodas leads to pixies getting buzzed.” He looked at me with a faintly disapproving stare.
I glared at him, and his lips twitched. I don’t know what it was about this alpha, but he seemed to find my protests hilarious. I wonder if I was the equivalent of a little yapping dog to him. Cute in its fierceness, but definitely not intimidating.
“Besides,” Finn continued, “why are youasking? You generally just help yourself to my officers’ lunches and snacks in the break room.”
“Nick replaces them,” I spluttered in defense. “And I only steal certain things!”
“Like my strawberry yogurts?” Finn growled.
My eyes went wide. Seriously, what was it with the alpha and strawberry yogurt? You’d think I’d done something way more insulting, like pee on his leg or something!
Finn growled, and his eyes went glowy yellow. Whoah. Note to self. Don’t steal Finn’s strawberry yogurt. Ever. Again. He relaxed and his eyes changed back to his normal emerald green and yellow when a strawberry yogurt suddenly popped out of nowhere onto his desk, including a spoon and a napkin with a heart embossed on it.
“Thanks, Nick!” I yelled and I heard him chuckle in response. Wooo boy, was I glad Nick was in the office today. Finn was crazy attached to his snacks!
“Do you have blood sugar issues?” I asked suspiciously, squinting at him as if my Insight had done me wrong and not broadcasted this to me. Maybe if I turned my head to the side and looked at his liver a little closer . . .
“Out!” he demanded, pointing a finger toward the door and glowering at me.
I held up my hands and made a hasty retreat.
“Yep, I obviously missed some warning signs with his liver,” I said to myself as I leaned against his closed door.
I heard Finn growl, and I grinned.
Moonhaven Cove was becoming downright fun!
“But what about my soda?” I complained to the office in general.
One popped into my hand, and I sighed in delight . . . until I saw the label on the can.Diet.
I glared at the can and then at Nick. Nick had adorably made himself at home in a desk opposite Lucky’s in the hopes of catching her eye, even though she currently seemed to be away from her desk. “Very funny,” I told him.
He smirked. “Need a police escort to the Leto Villa?”
“How’d you know I was heading there?”
He shrugged his massive shoulders. “You’re not hard to figure out, pixie.”
“Take that back!”
He laughed, grabbed his coat, and lazily followed me out the door.
