His lips found the sensitive hollow behind my ear and I moaned. My body was careening ahead of my mind. It was needy and desperate, but I could sense reality trying to claw its way through the fog of desire clouding my rational thoughts.
Alec’s tongue scraped up the side of my neck as his hand reached the waistband of my trousers.
“I know you found out about Elissa. Was that why you were so mad, Cupcake? Let me take your mind off it. Let me make you come all over my hands.”
Mmm…yes…
Wait, he knew about Fenris and Elissa? My eyes flew open and I shoved Alec off me. Rational thought returned like a slap in the face. Harsh and with a sting that made my eyes water.
Alec laughed, a soft rumble that tickled deliciously over my senses. I glared at him as I tried to gain control over the pulsing heat now coursing through me.
“You,” I pointed at him, “are a pain in the ass.”
“Yeah, but you still seem to find me irresistible.”
“Why didn’t you tell me Fenris was engaged?”
He shrugged his shoulders. “I didn’t know I had to. He should have told you and you know it.”
He was right. Fenris should have told me and I would have known he was off-limits. I wouldn’t have spent so much time snuggling up to him on the sofa or staying up to the small hours of the morning discussing favourite movies or… well, anything.
Well, fuck him.
Alec closed the distance between us again and thrust himself into my personal space. He grabbed a strand of my hair and wrapped it around his finger. The gentle tug sent sparks of pleasure dancing across my scalp.
“You deserve better, Lori.”
I couldn’t tell whether he was being serious or not, so I scoffed and brushed past him. I was very much aware of the heat of his attention on my back. I had to get away from him. I needed a cold shower and some actual breathing space.
“You should forget about him,” he called after me. I spun on my heel and glared at him. I hated the way the fire in his eyes made my skin tingle with anticipation.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
He snorted and canted his head to one side as if studying me. “Liar.”
“It’s none of your business.”
“I can make it my business.” He took a step towards me. “Come on, Cupcake. Let me make you feel good.”
It was tempting. It really was. But I wouldn’t do that to myself or Alec. For him to think he was only worth sleeping with in order for me to get over someone else said a lot about him. The fact that I was tempted to sleep with Alec said a lot about me, too. A lot of bad things. He was a complete dick. One that I wanted between my thighs, with his hands all over… shit. I needed to put some distance between us before I did something stupid. Like spread my legs for him.
Urgh.
He stepped closer still.
“Back off, Alec.” I raised the throwing knives I still had in my hand. “Take one step closer and I’ll throw one at you.”
He laughed mockingly. “You don’t have it in you.”
He took another step closer. Stupid boy.
I straightened my stance, popped my right foot forward and hurled one at him.
A string of expletives left his lips as the knife buried itself in his shoulder.
Well, would you look at that? I guess my stancehadbeen all wrong.
“What the fuck did you do that for?” he hissed through gritted teeth as he pulled the blade from his shoulder. The wound instantly started to heal which kind of made me feel a little less guilty about it.
