“My turn,” Beau growled; his voice was like smoke, but I was too dazed to realise what was happening.
Pain sliced across my wrist. Ice filled my blood, engulfing the heat of my Hound and claiming it as its own.
As the world came back into focus, I watched Beau pull his fangs from my wrist and sink them into Rafe’s.
He was marking us as his, just as we had done to him.
Beau’s mark pulsed in time with my heart and settled into my bones. Our connection magnified a thousandfold and pulsed with something new. Something unknown. Something terrifyingly beautiful.
I could feel everything. Every emotion, all his memories, his hopes and dreams. They all became mine.
As the magic died down, a warmth filled my soul as I cradled Beau and Rafe in my arms. Together we sat there, our bodies and souls entwined, never to be parted again.
“Wow,” Beau said, breaking the silence. “Does it feel like this for you? Overwhelming and impossible. Too much and yet not enough.”
Rafe pressed a soft kiss against Beau’s temple. “Yes. I imagine this will take some getting used to.”
I chuckled softly, a wave of joy passing between the three of us. I lazily stroked my fingers down Beau’s arms, content just to sit here and touch him. “How are you feeling?”
Beau hummed throatily. “Delicious.”
“I don’t think that’s what he meant,” Rafe said, a wide grin on his face
“I know,” Beau replied with a laugh. “And yes, my ass is sore but in the best way. I don’t want to move.”
I swiped my tongue over my mark on Beau’s neck, and his entire body clenched and shivered.
“Fuck,” he gasped as his dick twitched, and he rolled his hips.
“Mmm, baby. You keep doing that and we won’t be able to stop,” Rafe said as he pressed his lips against Beau’s.
“And that’s a bad thing?” Beau quipped.
I grabbed his chin and turned his face to mine. “Yes. You need to rest. We all do.”
Beau pouted, and I took his bottom lip between my teeth, giving it a little nip.
“Fine,” he sighed and narrowed his eyes. “I know you’re right. You don’t have to feel smug about it, though.”
I reluctantly pulled out of him, loving the little ripples of pleasure that ran through our bond. I helped Beau to his feet, but he looked a bit unsteady, so I swept him up into my arms, bridal style.
“I can walk,” Beau chided, but there was no real heat behind his words.
“I know, but I want to carry you.” I wanted to be close to him. I wanted to feel his skin against mine for as long as possible.
“Come on,” Rafe said as he looked at us both fondly. “Let’s go home.”
Nothing had ever sounded more wonderful than that.
Chapter Nineteen
Roux
“So, how’ve you been?” Lila said as she dropped a pint in front of me.
We’d come up to The Shack to speak to a few of the ghosts about the disappearances, but I’d learnt nothing. No one had seen anything, and I’d come away with a grand old pile of nada. “You ever get the desire to just run away from your problems?”
Lila grinned wide. “All the time, but I would only be running away from normal mundane shit. Not life-changing, potential end-of-the-world shit that might get you killed.”
