“I’ll leave you with him for a little while. We can only allow short visits. You understand.”
I watched her approach the door of his room.
“I assume we can leave someone waiting all night, even if they’re out in the waiting area? We don’t leave our brothers alone when they need us.”
She stepped outside, and turned to look at me, before she closed the door.
“That’s fine. As long as they behave appropriately.”
After she’d left me, I leaned on the bed again, wrapping my fingers around Ice’s right hand.
“Brother, we’re all gonna be here this whole fucking time. So you get better, so I can kick your ass for getting stabbed. What the fuck, man? Who did this? I’m gonna make sure they get this back tenfold.”
That probably wasn’t the supportive kind of shit I was supposed to be saying to him as he lay there in a coma. Jesus. I had no idea what else to say, so I just squeezed his hand, and stood there, watching as he breathed rhythmically, and themachines beeped in a steady tempo, reassuring me that he was still alive.
Alicia
Theflatwasnice.I mean, it was practically just one big room, but what more did I need? I dumped the bags in the corner, curled up on the sofa, thanking god that the place was furnished, and promptly fell into a deep sleep.
My dreams were full of Reacher, and the way he’d kissed me. The way his lips had forced mine apart, so his tongue could tangle with mine. The way his hard body had pressed me against the wall, his hard dick poking at me. I wanted more. I’d wanted it then, and I wanted it now. In my sleep, my mind played out what it would be like to be fucked by him, and it was amazing. Life changing.
When I woke, I had no idea what had disturbed me, but a sound by the door had me up from that sofa, and prepared for whatever attack was coming.
The man, who let himself in with a key, was Ryder, and he sighed heavily when he saw me.
“Thank fuck. I’ve been looking everywhere for you. I’d have found you sooner, if Tori had been answering her damn phone.”
I shrugged, sitting back down on the sofa.
“No need to look for me, Ryder. I’m home now, or I guess… I’m in the home I’ll use until the lease is up.”
He joined me on the sofa, turning to look at me.
“Have you even eaten anything since this morning?”
My stomach answered that question with a low gurgle, but I shrugged again, because apparently heartbreak equals constant fucking shrugging, like it’s not my world ending.
“Not anyone else’s problem. I’ll fend for myself.”
He rubbed his face with both hands, releasing another frustrated sigh.
“Are you always this hard to talk to?”
I turned in my seat so I could face him.
“You mean to people who I’ve mostly only ever conversed with when I’m tied to a chair, and they’re yelling in my face?”
He had the good grace to look embarrassed.
“Yeah, I’m sorry about that. It was a… well, a really fucked up time.”
“Tell me about it.” I rested my head on my arm, feeling absolutely shattered, even though I’d just been asleep.
“Let me take you back to the clubhouse, Alicia. Reacher wants-”
“Reacher got what he fucking wanted, okay? And now I’m out of his hair. Thatasshole.”
Ryder was smirking now.
