It wasn’t quiet after all. I heard a panicked yell from Lissa, and started running to her office, but when I reached the door, a second voice made me hesitate.
“Well, you weren’t supposed to fucking be here, doc. Now I guess I’ll have to deal with you too.”
Oh god. That was the voice of my attacker. That was the person who’d hurt and killed people from the club, and right now he was locked in with Lissa!
“Please, you don’t have to do this. You’re part of the club, why are you doing this?”
I dug out my phone, and tapped out a panicked message to Torch.
Me:HELP! Lissa’s trapped in her office with the attacker. I can hear him in there, and she needs help!
I switched my phone to silent, while I waited for his response. Going in there wouldn’t help Lissa, and it might escalate the situation if I try.
Torch:FUCK. Who is it? We’re on our way. Don’t let him catch you there. Hide in the kitchen, babe. We’re coming.
I slid the phone back in my pocket, because I couldn’t exactly tell him, could I? I still had no idea who he was.
“Just give me the key to the fucking cabinet, bitch.”
“Those are my patient files, dammit. I’m not letting you get hold of more things to use to hurt the club.”
“Gee doc, you’re not as smart as I thought. I’m gonna kill you, yeah? That means I’ll just get what I want anyway. Nobody knows I’m here with you either. Means I can take my time, and see what has Ice so fucking hot for you.”
Oh god no. I rested my hand on the door handle. Should I go in? Lissa screamed again, and something heavy crashed, and I gasped. She needed help.
“STOP!” I yelled, as I threw the door open, and burst inside, spying Lissa on the floor, with a hand against her cheek, and a chair knocked over, with a big guy towering over her. He took one look at me, and cursed, lunging at me, and tripping, when Lissa flung her leg out in his way.
“FUCK! Fucking bitches!” He threw a kick at her, and ran after me, as I turned and ran for the door, halting with a scream, when he caught a fistful of my hair, and pulled hard.
“I just pressed the panic button, you idiot. It’s over. Let her go.” I didn’t recognise the biker, and she wasn’t saying his name, but I didn’t think it was from lack of knowledge of it. There was some other reason. Was she trying not to piss him off? Wouldn’t the familiarity make it harder for him to hurt her? Mind you, he’d attacked others he probably knew well, including killing the former member, Jock.
“Where’s Tommy?” Lissa gasped out as the biker dragged me back over to her, and threw me down beside her.
“This is a fucking mess, and you bitches just ran out of time. If the others are on their way, I have no choice but to kill you fast, which is so not the way I wanted this to go.” He drew a large, deadly looking knife from a holster on his hip and brandished it at us.
Twenty-Five
Yeah,I’dbeenavoidingGrace, because I felt like a fucking monster, and I literally didn’t know how to face her, but when I got that text, nothing else mattered, except saving her and Lissa.
Bossy doc:HELP! Lissa’s trapped in her office with the attacker. I can hear him in there, and she needs help!”
Shit! “Guys, fuck! Grace says the attacker is in Lissa’s office with her!”
Ice cursed, leaping up from his desk, and knocking one of his screens to the floor with a crash, in his haste.
“Get the fuck out of my way!”
I tapped a response back to Grace, telling her to stay out of the office, and we ran out of Ice’s suite, and down the stairs. Part of me wanted to look around, see who was there, who was missing, maybe grab some more hands, but most of the only people I knew I could trust were with me right now.
We were all armed with something or other, like those of us who carried knives had them as part of our day to day wear, especially right now, when we had a fucking demon amongst us. Ryder was on the phone with Tori, telling her to stay put, and keep the others locked in with her.
A few people called out to us, as we ran through the bar area to the doors. It was taking too long. It was such a short distance, but it felt like forever since that text had come through, and she hadn’t replied to my message. What if something had happened to her since?
“I’m going to tear this fucker limb from limb,” Ice hissed, as he ran to the gates and forcibly started trying to help the guys open them.
Has was agitated as fuck.
“I left her in there, man. I thought it was safe. We’d just heard from Lissa so I figured… god, I’m so sorry. I should have fucking checked for myself.”
