“I’ll burn down this world for you,” he panted, rolling so I was riding him. He cupped my breasts, plucking at the tips, while I bounced on his thick length. “I’ll build a whole new world for you.”
“Valariy,” I gasped, my head dropping back as my climax built toward a crescendo.
“Look at me,Moya kokhána,” he demanded. “Look at me when you come and milk all my seed from me. Look at me while you take it from me. Take all of me and my love. Feel your power. I’ll make sure you know you’re powerful. With me. With you at my side. Needed. Ineedyou, but I understand you needing more.”
“Pakhan,” I whispered. “Mypakhan, I need…less talking.”
“Your wish. My command.”
Rolling us again, he pounded into me and I screamed, careening into oblivion. Valariy didn’t pause, taking me to climax after climax until my voice was hoarse and my body spent, covered in sweat, covered in him.
“I don’t,” I whispered a long time later, while we lay in the dark, holding each other. His hands trailed over me, his lips in my hair. I couldn’t stop touching him, either. “In my heart, I don’t need more than you. But it’s in my head where common sense—or something because it doesn’t feel smart right now—tells me I need to be more than the woman in your bed. I want to make a difference.”
His arms tightened as if he thought I’d disappear. He took a steadying breath. “What about working in the Kloboucnik clinic? I know your license was wrongly pulled—and I am working on that—but no one will be checking your credentials at our facility.”
“You have a clinic?”
“Moya kokhána, I have hundreds of men—and their families—to take care of. Many times, they need the kind of care that won’t be reported to the authorities. Which means we need our own medical center. And after you saved Piter, your reputation has spread through all the ranks. My queen is greatly admired. So, if you can handle working there at the clinic, if you want to, then I think you should do that.”
“Yes! Yes, yes! I do want to.”
He kissed the top of my head again. “Done.”
There he went, giving me whatever I wanted again. I shouldn’t have doubted him. “I have a lot of making up to you to do. I’m sorry I didn’t believe in you.”
“No, you weren’t wrong. I needed my eyes opened. I was determined to give you everything, but I didn’t realize I wasn’t seeing your other needs.”
“Valariy?”
“Yes?”
I moved over the top of him. “Take me back to Wonderland.”
His thumb stroked over my cheek while he peered into my eyes, as if they were a looking glass.
“We’re all mad there,” he said, half-quoting the Cheshire Cat.
“I’m mad. You’re mad,” I quoted back. “I think I can handle it. And you know, every adventure needs a first step, and I want all my steps to be with you.”
“Forever. I love you.”
I nodded. “Forever. I love you.” I shifted, taking him inside me again and rocking my hips. “Oh, and by the way…we’re having a baby. So more madness is on the way.”
And Valariy’s smile told me I’d just given him everything, too.

A Year and a Half Later
“Where’s the baby?” I asked Valariy as took his blood pressure. He had our son with him that afternoon while I did paperwork, but had shown up to the clinic suspiciously baby free a few minutes ago.
Of course, his BP was fine. Other than getting cleaned up from battle wounds, he tended to be as healthy as a man could me, not even getting a cold. I wasn’t fooled when he showed up at closing “not feeling well.”
“The nanny and Danik took him for a walk. Or more like the nanny took Tymofii for a walk and Danik is following along like a puppy.”
“Well, we have time to get you better then, don’t we?”
