Tears burn the backs of my eyes. He’s going to leave me here tied up in hopes someone finds me. What if Ciara doesn’t come?
“Please don’t do this. Cut me loose before you run,” I plead.
“Kid, you’re going to be a monster when you get your power up and hone your skills. I’m not crazy enough to cut you loose. Your hands are too fucking fast. You’ll be okay. I promise,” he says and takes off, not looking back once.
I start to panic and wiggle in my seat. Tears roll down my cheeks as the zip ties tear at my skin. My heart is racing and my stomach feels sick.
I nearly pee myself as the front door bursts back open. Relief washes over me as Dylan comes through the door, followed by Ciara, Miss Taegan, and some other guy I don’t know. However, I can’t stop sobbing.
“I’ve got ya,” Dylan says as he cuts my feet loose with a blade he pulls from his boot.
The other tall guy with him frees my hands as my sister wraps me in a hug. When my arms are free, I wrap them around her and hold on tight.
“I was so scared, I didn’t know if you could come for me, if you would find me. I want to go home.”
“Shh, I’m here. I will always come for you and nothing in this world would be able to keep me from finding you.” She pullsaway and cups my face to wipe away my tears. “I love you so much, Ciarán. I’ve always got you. No matter what, I’ve got you.”
Dylan
“What aren’t ya telling me?”Jamie says as we sit in my kitchen while Ciara puts Ciarán to bed.
I sigh and rub my eyes. “Do you realize who she is?”
“Who? Your girlfriend? No, but she’s hot as fuck. I thought she was going to beat Cadlha to death. Who is she?”
“Ciara Walsh.”
“Get the fuck out of here. I thought ya had given up on that and just found some hot bird to shag. That’s little Ciara?
“Fuck me, I sort of thought ya had a type. I didn’t think that was her.”
“Aye, it is. Cole knows I’ve found her, but he’s not telling me something. There’s a lot going on and I’m trying to keep her safe.”
“And the kid?”
“Her little brother. He was born before they lost Uncle Don and Aunt Iesha.”
“Wait, lost them? What do you mean?”
“I don’t know,” I say in frustration. “I’m still trying to figure that out. All I know for sure is that they’re both dead. First, Uncle Don then Aunt Iesha. She was killed in a car accident that took Ciara’s memories of everything before then.”
“Fuck, Donald Walsh was the shit. I’m so sorry to hear that. Iesha was such a nice lady. She was Ma’s friend.”
“Yeah, Ma was hurt for Ciara, but I could tell she was upset about her friend as well.”
“Ma knows about her?”
“Aye, Da does too.”
“How long have ya been keeping this to yourself?”
“Almost a year. It hasn’t been that hard with everyone so distracted and scattered.”
Jamie releases a low whistle. I get ready to tell him I’m calling it a night, hoping to avoid the answers he had really asked me for. I see the moment that’s not going to fly.
“So what does all of that have to do with ya being banned from the Fighting Irish?”
I groan and pull a hand down my face. Being the youngest sucks ass sometimes. All I want right now is to go upstairs and make sure my girl and the kid are all right.
