“I’m Ram.” He introduced himself, likely spraying her with his sex perfume.

As she glared at Rein, he remembered to release her from the muting spell. She shivered, let out a sigh, and rubbed her throat. “My name is Braelyn.” A wishful smile tweaked the edges of her mouth as she gazed at Ram.

What was wrong with her? She was sucking on her lower lip, looking as spellbound as a lovesick teenage succubus. Rein wanted to slam a fist into Ram’s pretty face.

Pivoting, the satyr drew his mouth into a serious line, his eyes clouding with a momentary flash of grief. “Human females are fragile, Rein. She needs protection.”

“As I said, she’s not your business.”

Ram turned his back on the vampire, angling toward Braelyn and holding a finger near her cheek. Grinning, he withdrew it. “Rein-man, you’ve got her cock-blocked. Good move. But what’s gonna protect her from you?”

Braelyn arched questioning brows, her cheeks reddening.

“I’ll explain later.” Rein advanced on the satyr, invading his space. “Time to haul ass.”

Ram winked at the female and with long-legged strides swaggered across the big room.

Braelyn ogled him and then sighed. “His eyes are like sea glass. And his hair. It’s melted caramel streaked with sunlight. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a prettier man.” She clamped a hand over her mouth. “Sorry. That sounded pervy.”

Rein grabbed her arm, pulling her off the couch. “You’re sending out screw-me vibes, just asking someone to nail you.”

“Don’t be crass.” Changing the subject, she asked, “The first guy, your commander, did you ask him to reimburse me for my sunglasses?”

“Fuck the sunglasses. You’ve got a lot more than that to worry about.”

“Really? Like what?”

“Like me, dammit.” His mouth clamped so tight, the muscle in his jaw twitched. Why does she make me lose my temper?“Over the shoulder or holding onto my neck?” Not waiting for an answer, he slung a forearm under her ass to boost her up.

Braelyn folded her legs around him. “You’re a disgusting man,” she said, wiggling against his body.

Rein bared his fangs. “I’m not a man, remember?”

While the sane part of him wanted to dump her, drink a bottle of whiskey, and fuck someone, the crazy part got high off her sex snuggling against his hip and her long legs squeezing his thighs. He sensed a hard-on coming. “Let’s go for a ride.” His iridescent blue eyes targeted her with a suggestion of lust as he tapped his D-chip.

ChapterFive

Whenthey landed, Braelyn’s own body was in league with the devil. Make that vampire. She wanted to bury her face in his chest, fondle his biceps, brush fingers through his hair, or unzip his pants to stroke him. Frustrated by her own oddball behavior, she kicked her legs while pounding on his shoulders.

Rein thrust her at arm’s length, letting her feet thrash in the air. “I love a good fight. Keep it up. Let’s see where it leads.”

“That’s perverted, or arrogant. I’m not sure which. Likely both.” When he set her on the floor, Braelyn smoothed her clothes to cover a blush of arousal.

“Stop touching yourself all the time. It drives me crazy.”

“Nervous habit. I’ll stop that if you stop warp-driving us everywhere.” She crossed her arms over her breasts. “It’s disconcerting when you sweep me to God knows where. No more over the shoulder, no more body clenches, and no more sexual comments.”

“What’s warp driving?”

“It’s aStar Trekthing. Are we still on Scath?”

He grunted a response.

“I don’t…”

Rein interrupted. Something he was good at. “We’ll talk later.”

“Sure we will. Who are we visiting now? Is it somebody who can get me home?”
