Ram touched his heart. “Ylve man, you hurt me.” He winked at Margo.

“Galena you’ve met,” said Chay.

Margo’s gaze took in the room and its inhabitants. “Boy, I could do a lot with your bodies.”

Galena chuckled, but Rein scowled and Ram’s brows shot up. “The human’s a sculptor. She’s into bodies.”

Rein pushed out of his chair. “You guys get the hell out of here while I talk to Margo. I’ve got something to explain to her.”

Chay stood his ground. “I’ll stick around and listen.”

“I don’t think I invited you.”

“I don’t think I care.” Chay dropped his arm from Margo’s shoulders to advance on Rein.

Rein strode toward the ylve, nose to nose, eyeing the clenched fists. He wasn’t looking forward to outing the ylve’s lights.Damn. Was this the kind of shit Kole put up with all the time?

Likely. A bunch of aggressive hotheads with short fuses. Still, this isn’t Chay’s style.

Margo slid between them before they could come to blows.

Chay grabbed her arms, gentling her to the side. “Red, sweetie, don’t ever step between two Firebrands about to go blow-to-blow.” With a hand on Margo’s back, the ylve guided her toward the door. “Leave us alone a minute. Stay right outside, though. Close by.”

“Sure, ylve baby.” She complied after giving each of them the once-over. Once she was gone, Chay tensed again as he spread his legs.

Rein fixed on the ylve’s challenging stance. “If you keep this up, they’ll be sweeping your body parts off the floor.”

“I’m not leaving my female alone in here. Deal.”

Rein squinted at the ylve. “Your female?”

“Yeah. Mine.”

“Do you hear yourself?”

At Rein’s question, Chay’s expression changed from pissed to what-the-hell. His shoulders slumped. He unclenched his fists. “Aw, man, I need advice. You recently mated a human.”

Rein tapped his wrist. “We’re on a tight schedule, Chay. We’ve got to find Kole, and a whole bunch of other shit is going down. No time for drama.”

“I agree, man. I need my head screwed on straight for all the action. To do so, I require wisdom from my mentor.”

Rein swiped a hand across his hair. “Make it quick.” He sank into the chair, propping his boots on Kole’s worn desk.

“I’m obsessed with Margo. You saw me. I was ready to go fist-to-fist. That’s not me, man. You know it’s not. When I transported here, I thought I’d chuck her and go through with mating Anjeli. But one look at the gorgeous redhead, and I can’t bring myself to do it. Another thing. Bounty was at her desk when I came in. I didn’t give her a glance. And you know what? I suddenly knew she’d never catch my eye again. Me! Can you imagine? I have wet dreams about her vamp pussy. Of course, I’d never share that with her. She’d probably snap my neck.”

Rein smirked, lacing his fingers behind his head. “Yeah. I can imagine. Frustrating, isn’t it?”

“You do understand, man. What’s wrong with me?”

“Figure it out yourself, Chay. I’m not a fucking relationship counselor.”

“I want to introduce her to my family. What’s going to happen when she meets my mother?”

“You care what your mother thinks?”

“Hell, no. That’s the crazy part. I care what Margo will think about my parental units. What if she doesn’t like them? What if she wants to dump me? You’ve met my mom and dad. They’re kind of stiff.”

“Chay, it seems to me she’s more likely to accept your people but dump your ass because you’re such a screw-up.”
