Margo’s lips bowed into a frown.

“To the commander. I mean, Rein. Let’s go outside so I can throw a portal. We can’t risk hoofing it to the gateway. It’s a distance from here.”

Once they were in the fresh air, Galena wrapped a hand around Margo’s wrist. “You better not mess with my D-chip.”

“Then don’t threaten me. It makes me more … I don’t know. Contagious.”

One minute Margo was in a rundown yard. The next, she wasn’t. They walked through a hallway where a drop-dead gorgeous blonde held a door open for them.

The woman’s mini-skirt fluttered as she tapped an ankle-strapped shoe on the floor.Tap. Tap. Tap.“Hurry. I’d love to finish my manicure.” She waved a hand in front of the black-haired Firebrand. “This is Orgasm Red.” She flipped out the other. “This is Pink Taboo. What’s your choice?”

“I’d go with the red. Looks great on you,” blurted Margo.

The woman dropped her gaze to that hand. “I think you’re right. Thanks.”

Galena answered Margo’s questioning arched brows. “Bounty’s a vamp. Kole’s executive assistant.”

The impatient Bounty escorted them through her office to another. Margo sucked in a breath. Waiting was an exceptionally large, armed man with a fierce guy sitting behind the desk, a scar through his brow and a snarl on his lips. When Chay stepped into view, his arms open, Margo rushed to him, snuggling into his chest while he whispered soft words in her ear.

Galena propped a fist on her hip. “Thanks, Amazon. Thanks for going to get the human.”

Chay peeked up. “Yeah. Thanks, Galena. Precious cargo here.”

“That’s so sweet, Chay.”

“I’m a sweet guy, Red.”

Skylerwas once again on her back atop the red rock, stretched out and naked with the demon crouched next to her. No pants. No shirt. Lots of skin and a still-huge penis. Any pretense at modesty was gone.

“I should warn you, there may be side effects to my fire which I haven’t mentioned.”

“Just zap me. Stop talking about it. Can’t you put your clothes on? At least your pants.”

“You want me to cover my best asset?”

Skyler released a sigh.

“If you insist.”

He powered off the rock, yanked on cargoes, and returned to kneel at her feet, walking her through the procedure. “I’ll apply as little fire as possible to each wound. Prep yourself, though. It’s going to hurt, Frisca.”

With no more warning, a flame streaked from his index finger. Each time he touched her, she flinched. Squeezing her lips tight, she tried not to whimper. Kole whispered soothing words she couldn’t understand. “What are you saying?”

“Nothing important. The old language. Demonish.”

“It’s lovely.” She bit her lower lip, swallowing any sound that might make him feel guilty.

“Flip.”

On her stomach, she rested a cheek on her folded arms. More sharp bites of pain, but Skyler breathed through it all.

When Kole sat butt to heels, she rolled to the side, pulling her knees into her chest for comfort, softly moaning. Skyler closed her eyes, willing the pangs to subside.

The last thing she remembered was Kole saying, “I’m sorry, Frisca.”

Darkness.
