Denim fired at three gunmen, one in the opendoorway, another behind some crates at the end, and a guy behindanother dumpster. She gave Ram time to cloak before he stepped intothe action.

Invisible, the satyr sneaked up on dumpsterguy. Coming into view, he drew his blade, plucked a fistful ofhair, and pulled back the shooter’s head. He made a clean, quickslice, blood spurting from the guy’s throat. He glanced out frombehind the cover, showing himself to Denim, who jerked her chinup.

When doorway guy broke away, gun blazing,Denim fired twice, hitting him once in the leg and once in thechest.

Bam. Bam.

The guy’s weapon fell to the ground.

Ram had no time for the gleam in her eye toregister. She was about to do crazy shit. She rushed from cover tokneel beside her downed target.

“I got one. He’s dead, though,” she shouted, moving her fingers off his neck, rolling, then popping upright. Sheducked into a doorway, bullets pinging on the frame.

“Haven’t we talked about your doing stupidshit, doll?” yelled Ram, as the remaining gunman sent bullets hisway.

Denim ignored the satyr’s comment. “Only oneleft, behind the crates. Cover me.”

Damn female.

Ram threw up a hand to surround himself withhis miasma, preparing to charge forward.

Too late.

Denim sped in the direction of the crates. When the guy showed himself, he spread his legs as hestraight-armed his weapon. She threw out a hand, a bolt oflightning traveling along her arm, out her fingers, and to thegunman. A weak but nice bolt. The male staggered, shaking it off, dazed.

Getting it together, the guy glanced up atthe roof, bending his knees, preparing to jump.

Denim lunged for the shooter as he took tothe air. In a flash, she grabbed his leg, heaving him into thewall.

Ram skidded to a halt, uncloaking. Tiltinghis head back, he watched the male soar overhead, smacking into theside of a building before he slid down it to land on concrete likeWylie Coyote.

“Damn, doll. That had to hurt like abitch.”

Denim snatched the front of the male’sshirt. With her fist drawn back ready to smash into his jaw, shegasped, letting him slide onto the ground out cold. “Steven.”

Ram eyed her, watching her reaction. “Nicejob. I’ll get Rein Man and your ex while you roll the two dead guysinto the gateway warehouse for pickup later.”

With Steven on one shoulder, Ram got Denimto heft the vampire Firebrand onto the other.

With two males in a fireman’s hold, Ramsaid, “Feel Rein’s pulse.”

“Still just okay.”

“I expect you right on my ass. Don’t dosomething stupid again, doll.”

Denim smirked. “Your ass belongs to me. Moveout.”

“Stay right on it.”

“Like a tick.”

He started his run as she tapped herD-chip.

When the gateway opened, they raced through. The entire time, Denim was arranging for medical and reporting toKole.

On the other side of the portal, two gaffersas well as a healer waited for them.

Stooping beside Rein, the healer scrunchedhis brows together as he shook his head imperceptibly, his fingerson the Firebrand’s neck.
