Part of me quite liked the idea of spending the night with Niall, but I had a soft warm bed in mind. On the upside, if we made it through this ordeal. Then maybe he’d agree to go out for coffee or something. Or I could pluck up the nerve and ask him out. And maybe pigs fly…
“You seem to know your way around the gym. Are you a member?” Niall asked.
“Did you just ask in a roundabout sort of way if I came here often?” I replied, smirking at him.
“Ah yeah, kinda.” We both tried hard not to laugh, but it helped to release the tension.
“Well, do you?” He asked, waggling his dark eyebrows.
Grinning at his playfulness, I cocked my head to one side before answering. “Sometimes I come for classes here, but I have my cross trainer at home.”
“What classes do you come here for?”
“Now don’t laugh.” I said, looking at him seriously.
“Why would I laugh?” Niall was looking at me quizzically.
“Just because,”
“So…?”
“It’s the ugh ‘Bums and Tums’ class.”
Both of Niall’s eyebrows shot up. He turned and walked around me, giving me the once over.
“Well, it’s working. You have a great bum and what looks like a flat tum.”
“When you’re my height, any extra weight looks double. If I was taller, having a naughty treat wouldn’t show so much.”
“How tall are you? It’s just that you don’t seem that small.” That was until he saw my shoes.
“I’m 5’2’.” I said while estimating his towering height to be about 6’4.
“Really, that is quite small, but you don’t see it. As you’re perfectly in proportion.”
I tried not to blush at his words of appreciation for my build.
“Well, that and the fact that I’m wearing 2-inch heels that helps too.” Giving him a look over with a glint in my eye, I couldn’t help being a little flirty. “By the way, from what I saw earlier, you spend quite a lot of time here yourself.”
Oh god, what was I saying?I should shut up about now, really. Silence was golden and was completely under appreciated. Silence didn’t get you in trouble or make a fool of you. Yep. I should stop now before I dig myself into a hole. I couldn’t talk myself out of it. Hopefully Niall didn’t read too much into it. Or think I meant when I saw him in the shower or before that, when he was in his gym stuff?
Niall coughed and tugged on his hoodie. Did I make him uncomfortable? It’s just my luck I’m stuck in a building with the sexiest man I’ve seen in years, if not ever, and my blundering flirting just makes him want to run away. Maybe I should go back to being stuck in the lift.
“I don’t go out much. I go to work, then come here, then go home. That’s pretty much my life.”
“You said you worked at the architects on the 2ndfloor. What do you do?”
Niall picked up his things and guided me to the area with the mats at the back of the gym.
“Mainly I work on refurbishments and restorations. I’m a project manager most of the time. I actually worked on the refurb of this building last year.”
“So, you’re the one responsible for the tiny bin in the kitchen. The mad auto flush toilets–that keep on flushing, even when you’re sitting on them. The oversized doors that are too heavy to be soft close! And the elevators that are slower than before.”
“Oh, I’m guessing from that, you aren’t a fan of the new look.”
“What gave me away?”
“The look on your face when you mentioned the erratic toilets.”
