“It’s a shame there are no records of anything likethisbefore.”The Book of Elder World entered my mind.It made me wonder if his kind had any similar manuscripts.
“Have you ever heard of Elder World?”Darce looked alarmed, almost as if I had uncovered some dark secret.
“You know of the Elder World books?”
“There is one under lock and key in our library.”
“Your kind possesses one of themissingscriptures?How?”The missing scripture?There was more thanoneElder World book?“Alora, you have no idea what power that book holds.It might have the answer I’ve been searching for, for the last two thousand years.”
“And what’s that?”
Darce swallowed hard before answering.“What made our two races enemies in the first place.”Oh!“You need to get your hands on that book.”That was going to be easier said than done.

After our few daystogether in The Shielding Valley, it became evident that Zohar was keeping secrets from my kind.Darce spent a whole day going through the Noxlin history, and none of it matched the Dylin versions.There were similarities, but both histories favoured their own race.I explained the Dylin histories as far back as I could.It appeared that the Noxlin were far better at recording their past.They had almost a million years more history than us.
“Are you saying that at some point our races were atpeace?”
“I have no idea, but something doesn’t add up.Everything your race accuses us of...all the allegations of why they went to war with us...none of it happened.We aren’t after your light sword, we never stole any power, and killing your...queen was a defensive move.Weneverintended to kill so many Dylin.Our city was crumbling.We had no choice.Your kind would have destroyed us.The Elder World texts explain that without lightanddark, Afterlight Veil willdie.There must be a darker force at play.That night we met, the noc beast was being controlled.It wasn’t a normal moon beast.Its eyes were more crazed.”
“Controlled by what?”
“I have no idea, but for some strange reason, it was afteryou.It had been tracking you for days.Those beasts never go that far into the Barren Lands.Dreonarus has other dwellings for those creatures.”
“Wait!How do youknowit was tracking me?”
“I was tracking you, too.”
Anger flared in my eyes.“Were you watching while Raidendied!You could havesavedhim!”
