“I’ll send you home tomorrow.”When I nodded, he leant down and pressed his lips against mine.

Chapter Thirty one

“Iwill never take itoff,” I beamed, watching Darce place a necklace around my neck.I touched the heart pendant, stroking the jewel inside. The moment we were back in the safety of his bedchamber, he vanished for a few moments and then returned with the pendant.

“I have had a protection spell put on it.Charna will not get to you when you are wearing this.I need to know you are safe atalltimes. If anything happened to you...”Darce couldn’t finish his thoughts.Gently, I stroked his cheek.“I’m falling in love with you, Alora.I know it goes againsteverythingwe are, but I can’t stop.”His honesty scared me.

“We are playing a dangerous game, Darce.”Fear began to take over every thought I had.If his parents ever discovered I was Dylin, what would they do to him?I loved Darce too much to risk him.Charna had easily uncovered who I was.How could we have been so foolish?“I think you should take me home.”

“Is that what you truly want?”Defeat showed clearly in his jet black orbs.

“Take mehome, please,” I pleaded, trying to look as sincere as I could. This last month, I had been completely blindsided. With the beauty of Eallarim, giving myself fully to Darce, and immersing myself into his world, I had forgotten how dangerous all of this was for both of us.

With a wisp of shadows, Darce pulled me against him and portalled us back into my bedchamber in Dallethas.Being a day early, the room was empty.

“Thank you,” I muttered, pulling away from him to walk towards the balcony.I needed to be energised from our two suns, but the brightness I hadn’t been used to made me squint. Was this how it had felt for Darce the first time he portaled here?

“Don’t walk away from me,” he pleaded, his eyes wet with emotion.“I can’t do this without you, Alora.”

“How do we makethiswork, Darce? How can we do this without getting each other killed? We are breakingeveryrule. If we carry on, we riskwar.”

“You know how I feel about you.”

“You know neither of us can fully admit those feelings. If we give in...”I shook the thought away.

“This doesn’t feel wrong to me.”Moving to me, he tucked a stray piece of my hair behind my ears before cupping my cheek.I hadn’t even noticed he had turned my features back to Dylin until now.

“Maybe you never should have saved me,” I whispered, leaning up to peck his lips.

“Don’t say that.I can’t imagine a world where you don’t exist.”He breathed against my mouth.“Don’t push me away please.Wewillwork all of this out.Together.”

“I can’t help but think your life would be so much simpler if I had never crashed into it.Charna...”

“Do not bringherinto this.Watching her try to kill you...”He pinched the bridge of his nose as he tried to shake the thought away.“Charna is lucky I didn’t kill her there and then.”

“She fears what I am, Darce. She only did it because she cares for you.”
