Diesel shut the door behind him before dropping down into the chair opposite me, questions in his eyes.

Hunter just chuckled, his voice low. “I’ll see you soon. By the way, who’s the pretty girl?”

I hung up before he could say anything else, tossing my phone down on the desk with a growl, knowing exactly who he was talking about. “That cunt is a pain in the ass.”

“Who?”

“Rivera,” I gritted out, my eyes flashing up to his. “I don’t know why he’s hanging around, but I think it’s got something to do with that walking target with tits you and Skeet like so much, or the Reapers’ slut.”

“He knows about Donovan? How?” he asked with alarm, a bark of laughter leaving me.

“The same way everyone else knows about her. She’s been driving around in Skeeter’s goddamn car, riding his fucking cock, and fighting in our cage. I said that girl was going to be aproblem, and now look. We have rival crews showing up wanting to get a good look at her.”

“That’s hardly her fault.”

“No, it’s Skeeter’s for getting attached to that pussy in the first place. Hunter’s going to show up any day now.”

“Should I keep an eye on Rory’s house?” he offered, and if the desk wasn’t between us, I would’ve put my fist through his face.

“No! Fuck the academy brat, keep your eyes open for an attack against your crew!” I spat, his eyes narrowing.

“Look, whatever pissing contest you and Skeet have going on has nothing to do with me. I thought I’d offer since you sent me to take her home earlier.”

“I needed Skeet here and knew he’d run off if someone else didn’t get her home. She’s home in her fancy mansion with high-end security, so stop worrying. No one will get to her in there,” I muttered, giving him the side-eye. “Did you come in here for a reason, or just to bother me?”

“I got a call from our weapon’s client in Kingslake. He wants to meet. Do you want me to take a bunch of guys over tonight or organize it for another day?” he asked as he leaned back in his seat to watch me. I relaxed at the subject change, thankful that he was obviously still focused on business.

“Set it up for tonight. Take Skeet, Matteo, and Sam,” I said firmly, expecting him to argue, but he nodded without question and called our client to give him a time and place, the rest of my muscles relaxing at his obedience.

I’ve never had to question Diesel’s loyalty before, but lately, I swore it was all I’d been doing.

CHAPTER SIX

RORY

Waking up with a dry mouth and a thumping head made me question why I drank in the first place. Hangovers sucked.

I sat up in bed and rubbed my eyes, pausing when something flickered in my memories.

I hadn’t been drinking, some guy had broken in and fucking drugged me.

My hands instantly ran down my body to check for damage and to make sure I was still dressed, confusion filling me at finding that I seemed untouched, although still a little bit foggy in the head.

Pushing out of bed, I made my way slowly across the room to the door, cracking it open and peeking into the hallway.

“Hello?” I croaked, my voice rough. Silence met me, and after doing a quick walk-through of the house, I realized I was alone.

If the man hadn’t touched or taken me, why the hell had he drugged me?

Considering Josie’s security was top notch, it concerned me that someone had managed to get in and out without being noticed. I had no idea how the man had done it, and that was what bothered me most about the entire thing.

Not the fact that he’d been inside the house, but that he’d gotten in without a trace.

If I told Skeeter, he'd just lock me in a basement somewhere to keep me safe and kill Diesel for not finding the guy, and Caden would have another rich boy tantrum.

The guy knew Diesel and Skeeter, that much was obvious, but he wasn’t anyone I’d seen before.

I didn’t exactly want to tell anyone what had happened, and since I hadn’t dropped dead from the drug and I seemed okay, that was a good sign. But I also didn’t want to stay in the house alone, the whole thing had rattled me slightly.
