“Stay safe. Can you at least text me tonight to let me know you’re okay?”
This damn girl was twisting me up inside. It felt good to have someone genuinely worry about me, but at the same time, I hated it.
These feelings were what got people killed.
“I’ll text you,” I murmured, leaning down to give her a quick kiss before I could stop myself. “Stay home and don’t get yourself into any more trouble.”
“I’ll let you know where I am if I need to leave,” she said without argument, and that surprised me. She could tell this was serious, thankfully, and was treating it as such.
With Hunter’s boys sneaking around, I didn’t want her wandering the neighborhood alone. For all I knew, they’d already seen her associating with us or heard gossip.
That would put her straight on their radar.
“Good. Go with D. I don’t care if you take your friend with you, just don’t come back here and piss Slash off.”
The girls grabbed their things while I told everyone else to leave, and before long, it was only members of the Psychos left in the room, so I could speak more freely.
“We need a fucking plan because there’s no way in hell that I’m letting the Devils get comfortable here. Hunter and Marco need to be put in the ground before they become a problem.”
Anger, frustration, and pain filled me at the thought of killing the two people who’d meant the world to me once upon a time, but they’d made their choice and proven their loyalty to the Devils by trying to take me down, so it was about time I repaid the favor.
“We can’t just kill them,” Brick stated bluntly, crossing his arms. “It’ll start a war. I think we should find out what they want first.”
“Doesn’t matter what they want if they’re dead,” Matteo muttered, and for once, I agreed with him.
“Maybe not, but we don’t know if they’ve got ties with other crews. We don’t want any surprises,” Brick pointed out, and I wanted to strangle him for being right.
At one point, we were the Devils’ allies, but not anymore.
Who was to say they hadn’t struck a deal with another crew to take us out?
“Well, we can cross the Reapers off the list. Hendricks would rather shoot himself than work beside Hunter fucking Rivera,” Matteo snorted, waving a hand in Slash’s direction. “It’s unlikely the Kings would work with anyone other than the Soldiers or Demons. The Soldiers only work with the Kings when they’re forced to, and I’m pretty sure the Demons are too busy going to war with the Reapers right now to give a shit about anyone else.”
The Shadow Kings, Hell’s Demons, and Satan’s Soldiers crews didn’t play well with others, it was a known fact. Theyweren’t exactly friendly with each other, but the Kings scared the shit out of Razor, the leader of the Soldiers, so he let them walk all over him and his crew.
Justin Lopez, the leader of the Demons, loved the chaos of war, so he regularly sided with the Kings just for the sake of it.
I’d rather fucking die than let the Kings use me like a fucking puppet.
“That only really leaves the Skull and Bone crew, who don’t even come near the state, and the MC clubs avoid crew drama, thanks to the Kings MC,” I said in a bored tone. “There’s literally no one else around at the moment.”
“What about hitmen?” Matteo stated, and even Slash snorted at that.
“I don’t think any hitmen would want to start beef with an entire crew. The Devils aren’t rich enough to hire someone for that many murders.”
“I’m more worried about the Donovan girl than Rivera and his dogs,” Samuel said flatly, his eyes on me. “I know she killed Liam to keep you safe, but what happens if someone like the Devils took her and tortured her for information? What have you been telling her?”
“I don’t tell her shit about the crew,” I bit out defensively.
“And Lonnie? She’s becoming a problem. Why did you let her walk out of here unharmed? Not to mention Donovan, who pulled a fucking knife out in the cage,” he scoffed.
“Slash can explain Lonnie, but Donovan is my problem, okay? No one else touches her,” I warned, and Matteo let out a light chuckle.
“We know. The problem is, you’re not dealing with her. You’re letting a fucking academy brat walk all over you, and it’s making us look pathetic, Skeet. You love that girl? Let her the fuck go before she gets killed,” he demanded, others mumbling in agreement.
Slash looked smug, but his face fell a fraction when I motioned to him.
“Why are you guys mad at me? He’s the asshole who keeps making decisions on our behalf. He just sent Lonnie to spy on the Devils after she said she knows Aurora killed Liam.”
