“Hey, Sky,” I greeted her.
She sat up, surprised to see me. “Girl, how in the hell did Melijah get you over here?”
I rolled my eyes and went to sit on the edge of her bed. “We were out when he said Denver wanted to chill. I didn’t know his other friend was here too.”
She scoffed, with a roll of her eyes. “Those three are never too far away from each other. When you see one, you gon’ see all three of them. How are you? Look at your stomach. Little MJ has you growing nicely.”
I rubbed my stomach with a smile. “Yes, he always has me eating too.”
Skylar got out of bed, placing her phone on the nightstand. “Speaking of cooking, this man wanted some wings and fries, so let me go cook.”
I stood up and followed her out of the bedroom. Denver, Melijah, and their other friend — I was always forgetting his name — seemed to be in a heated discussion about basketball. Skylar only shook her head and headed to the kitchen.
While Skylar cooked, we made small talk, and I told her about my friends.
“Those bitches!” she screeched with her hands on her hips. “I have half a mind to go beat their asses. Who the hell do they think they are? They don’t come for Lijah like that and think I’m not gon’ step.”
I smiled. “I tried not to get too furious with them because of MJ, but I’m still in disbelief that they hadn’t reached back out to me.”
She clapped her hands. “I’ve told you so many times to drop those stuck-up bitches, but you never want to listen to me. If his sisters find out what they said about him, their asses will get beat the hell up. His sisters are protective of him since he’s their only brother. I can’t believe them.” She paced back and forth. “I’m sure if you weren’t pregnant, you’d let them have it.”
I nodded. “Oh, for sure. They wouldn’t talk about him like that. It’s all good though. I’m glad they showed their true colors.”
She snorted. “Girl, they’ve been showing their true colors. You were just blind as hell, but I’m going to hush.”
She went back to cooking, and I pulled out my phone to play Candy Crush. Every once in a while, we’d talk, but other than that, it was silent.
Melijah came into the kitchen and sat down at the kitchen table with me.
“You good?”
I inclined my head. “Yes. Ready to eat some wings. Sky is cooking.”
He tilted his head and stared at me, saying nothing. There was no telling what ran through his head.
“Okay...”
We stayed at Sky’s house for another hour before we headed out. I found out his other friend’s name was Brock. Those wings Skylar had cooked were so good that I made sure I took some to go. On the drive back to Melijah’s apartment, I was knocked out and didn’t wake up until we got home.
“Melijah!”I screamed at the top of my lungs.
While we were enjoying a passionate kiss, he had loosened the straps of my bathing suit and was sucking on my nipple. Just as I was about to have an orgasm, he pulled away from me. He burst out laughing like something was funny when it wasn’t. He’d be paying for that.
I felt him behind me, and before I could swat him with my free hand, he moved back, still laughing.
“Baby, listen, I had to do it. I knew if I continued, we’d end up having sex in this pool. We’ll finish when we get inside the apartment.”
I wasn’t trying to hear anything he had to say. “Nope. I’m going to get you back. Just wait until I get out of this pool. You can run away all you want, but I’m still going to get you.”
With that, I went to get out of the water. I couldn’t believe he had done that. If he thought he’d be getting away with it, he’d better think again.
The complex had an indoor pool, so we decided to chill in the water for a while to get out of the apartment. Everything was going well until he made the decision he did. He had to come back inside the apartment, and when he did, I had something waiting for him.
By the time Melijah came inside, I was in the shower. I heard him calling my name from the bedroom. He must have heard the shower running. I rolled my eyes and continued to wash up. Not long after the shower stall opened, he stepped in with a smile on his face.
“Am I forgiven yet?”
“Hell no!” I snapped
