Melijah laughed, holding me from behind. “What if I told you I had us tickets to a comedy show later tonight?”
I turned in his arms with a surprised look on my face. “Wait, what?”
He nodded. “Yes, ma’am. I figured we were due for a date night. What do you think?”
“Hell yeah!”
He dropped a kiss on my lips. “Good.”
That had me excited. I had never been to a comedy show before. I had to look through the clothes I had at his apartment. Hopefully, I had something suitable.
“Am I forgiven now?” he asked, dropping another kiss on my lips.
I nodded slowly, leaning in for another kiss. Melijah didn’t disappoint as he gave me another kiss, slipping his tongue in mymouth. I reached out to touch his face, causing him to grab hold of my hips. Our tongues tangled together as we moaned in each other’s mouths. My body ached, ready to feel him buried deep inside me as he slowly pulled his lips from mine.
“Put your hands against the wall for me, baby. I need to slide in.”
That was all Melijah had to say to have my juices running like a faucet. I did what he told me to do and looked over my shoulder at him. He bit down on his bottom lip as he eyed me. When he pushed inside of me, I knew I’d be in for the ride of my life. I would embrace it too.
Later that night, I had a big smile on my face as I sipped some iced tea. Melijah looked extra good in all black with his dreads pulled into a bun on top of his head. He complimented me on my outfit. I wore a long dress with small, heeled wedges on my feet. I also did my makeup, which I hadn’t done in a while. It made my light skin glow.
I felt eyes on me and turned to see Melijah looking at me. “What?”
He smiled. “Nothing. You’re beautiful.”
I smiled brightly. “Thanks.”
I picked up my glass and took another sip of the drink. The club had a cozy vibe. Melijah and I sat at a table in front of the stage. They had most of the lights off, with small lights twinkling around us.
“You’re welcome.”
One of the comedians came on stage and did his thing. I laughed a few times until tears rolled down my face. I didn’t know how much I needed this night until now. If I could freezetime, I would. I had never been happier in my life. I wasn’t sure if it was because I was laughing as much as I did or if it was because of Melijah. Either way, I was content.
“You’re smiling hella hard over there. Let me get a picture.” Melijah pulled his phone out, and I smiled for him. “Yeah, I love seeing that smile on your face. Always keep it there.”
I grinned. “I’ll try.”
The next two comedians came out, but they weren’t as funny as the first guy.
“Who’s your favorite comedian?”
“Kevin Hart,” I replied with no hesitation. When it came to Kevin, I had watched all his shows and movies. If I were to meet him in person, I’d faint. “What about you?”
“Dave Chappelle.”
I nodded. The only thing I had ever seen Dave Chappelle in wasThe Nutty Professor.
“You’ve got to let me watch some of his stuff. I know nothing about him, his shows, or movies.”
Melijah stared at me with his mouth dropped and eyes widened. “You’ve got to be kidding me?”
I shook my head with a chuckle. “No kidding.”
“I’m about to put you up on game.”
I snickered, reaching for my drink. “Okay. I’ll look forward to it.”
After the last two comedians took the stage, they wrapped up the show. I stretched and let out a yawn. It was about that time for me to go to bed. As soon as we got back in the car, I was sure I’d be asleep before we headed back home.
