“Okay. That works for me.”

“Umhm, but first... I need more of you.”

As Melijah proceeded to get more of what he wanted, he took me to heaven and back and back again. When we finally got out of bed, we headed to the shower. He then told me all over again that he wanted more of me. We always seemed to go at it like rabbits. I didn’t think I’d ever get tired of him. While we got dressed, he wanted to be playful by kissing my neck as I tried to put on my clothes.

“Damn, you smell good.” He then licked me. “Mmm.” He nearly brought me to my knees when he sucked my neck.

“Melijah, if you don’t stop, we’d be back in bed. You’re going to get me wet again.”

He laughed. “That’s what I want, baby.” He gripped my ass and caressed it in his hands.

I moved away from him, finished getting dressed, and quickly left the room. He laughed at me, but I didn’t care. If he had it his way, we’d be back in bed. Still, Melijah said he wanted to spend the day out of the apartment, and I wouldn’t turn that down.

An hour later, Melijah and I headed out of his apartment holding hands. Once we were in the car, he drove out of the apartment complex. I checked my notifications. When I didn’t see any, I opened my Kindle app and read a book. I had no idea where he’d take me, but I was down for the ride. I’d let him be in charge without asking questions.

Fifteen minutes into the drive, and with me reading, I finally lifted my head from my phone. Melijah had pulled into a bookstore’s parking lot. My eyes widened as I eyed the place and him.

“The bookstore? Wow! What made you want to come here?”

Never in a million years would I have thought he’d want to visit the bookstore with me. It had been a while since I had even been here. From the looks of it, this bookstore seemed to be in bad shape. No other cars were in the parking lot besides ours and another one. I remembered that, at one time, the parking lot was packed with cars.

He shrugged, turning the car off. “I saw a bookshelf in your house and thought maybe you’d like to add more to your paperback collection.”

I beamed happily. “Of course, I would. Let’s go!” I squealed in my seat from the excitement, causing him to laugh at me.

Melijah exited the car and came around to open the door for me. Hand in hand, we walked to the entrance. He pulled the door open for me, and we stepped inside.

“Oh wow! I have customers!” The sound of an old lady’s voice rang out from the front desk. She had a small smile on her wrinkly face. “What can I do for you, young souls?”

“Hey. We were here to browse through the books. Is that okay?” I asked because, from the looks of it, it looked as if she had packed the place up. “If you don’t mind my asking, what happened to the bookstore?”

She dropped her head as her lips trembled. Maybe I shouldn’t have asked. “My brother died a few years back. You know the people loved him. However, since his death, the place and business have seemed to decline. I had to come back and run it, and as you can see, I’m not doing a good job of it.” She tried chuckling, but her lips trembled. Her eyes welled with tears as sadness shone in them. “Get whatever you want. Everything is half off.”

With a nod, we walked away from the woman. I felt so sad for her. She seemed to be trying her best with the bookstore, but I guess it didn’t work out how she thought it would.

Melijah pulled me into his arms. “Damn, this sucks. Here I go thinking we’re about to have a ball in here yet look what we were hit with. I’m sorry.”

I looked up at him with a frown. “What are you apologizing for? You didn’t know this was about to happen. At least everything is half off. That’s a win.”

Melijah threw his head back and laughed. “That’s a way to look at it. Aye, go crazy. Do your thing.”

And I did just that too. It amazed me how many books I picked up. I’d be adding them to my collection. Maybe I’d even read some of them. I was attached to my Kindle, so I might just read them from there.

Once I got all the books I wanted, I went to find Melijah. He was at the front talking to the old lady. She had a bright smile on her face at the many books I had in my hand. What surprised me was that they still looked brand new.

“Oh, you went shopping.”

I chuckled. “Yes, ma’am. Everything still looks new.”

She nodded. “Yes. I still make sure I dust and keep it clean in here despite not getting any sales.”

Once she rang up my books, she gave us a friendly smile. “Be sure to come back.”

I nodded. “We will.”

Melijah and I made our way out of the bookstore in silence, and even in the car, we said nothing.

He then broke the silence when he let out a deep breath. “Damn, that’s sad. Do you think she’s the only one left in her family? From the looks of it, she looks lonely.”
