I nodded. “I agree.”
Pulling my hands from his, I went to his side of the table and sat down on his lap, lowering my head and kissing his lips. He held me around my waist, and I wanted him never to let me go.
“We have a movie date to attend, but the only thing on my mind is taking you to bed,” he mumbled against my lips.
I giggled. “I was thinking the same thing.”
Melijah stood up and wrapped my legs around his waist. “Great minds think alike.”
With that, he carried me back to his bed, where we spent the rest of our night.
“Baby!”Melijah called to me from the other side of the baby department.
I should have ignored the way he called my name. Why would he yell from one side of the baby department to the other?
We were shopping for our baby boy, and I was over the moon with happiness. Since Melijah and I made things official, we couldn’t stay away from each other. Every night or every other night, we found ourselves together. We didn’t miss a day of having lunch together, even on the days when he didn’t have to work.
I felt him behind me as he enveloped me in his arms. He kissed the side of my face.
“I know you heard me calling you,” Melijah whispered in my ear.
I chuckled and turned in his arms and pecked his lips. “I did. You screamed for everyone to hear you.”
He laughed. “I didn’t mean to do that. Have you seen anything you like? It’s a lot of good stuff where I was.”
I held up my arm and showed him what I had. It was a bunch of onesies and outfits. I tried not to go overboard, but I ended up doing just that. I didn’t feel guilty about it either.
“Well, damn. I saw a lot of stuff, but I didn’t want to get it without you looking at it first,” he stated.
I frowned. “You should still get it.”
Although we had a long way to think about it, I wondered how we’d handle the living arrangement once the baby arrived. It wasn’t something we talked about, but now that I had only a couple more months left to go, I felt like we needed to talk about our living arrangements. I was eager to meet my baby, but I was also scared out of my mind.
He nodded. “Okay then. I’ll go back and get what I found.”
While he did that, I took the time to continue browsing through the clothes. He came back with two handfuls of items, causing my mouth to drop.
“Oh, you weren’t playing.”
He chuckled. “Nah, not at all. I’ll get anything for my lil’ man.”
Melijah’s words warmed my heart. Another thing he did that made my heart flutter was when he touched or kissed my stomach. Whenever I needed him to rub lotion on my stomach, he jumped to do it. We were also feeling our baby’s small kicks. When it first happened, I thought it was my nausea coming back, but I kept my hand on my stomach and felt the small kicks. It always brought tears to my eyes. I couldn’t eat or drink anythingwithout feeling my son moving around in the womb. That was the highlight of my day each time it happened.
“Let’s go. I’m getting hungry and could use a snack.”
He inclined his head. “Word. I could use a soft pretzel.”
After we paid for our items, we headed to the food court. I couldn’t wait to eat. It felt like I hadn’t eaten all day when I did, in fact, eat before we left his apartment.
Both of us got soft pretzels and two cookies. While Melijah got a lemonade, he made sure I got a cup of water.
“You can pout all you want, but I know you haven’t had any water today.” He bit into his pretzel, eyeing me.
I arched an eyebrow. “And how do you know that?”
He smirked. “The five bottles of water I left in the fridge this morning were still there when we left. Also, the water bottle I bought you was still in the dishwasher.”
I opened my mouth and closed it, unable to say anything. “Anyway...”
