From the way he made me feel, I wouldn’t mind doing it again. I needed to get my mind off the sex I had with him. That was the reason I was in this situation now.

He dropped his head. “I apologize for jumping to conclusions.”

At least he knew how to apologize. “You had a reason to.”

“Do you plan to keep the baby?” he asked, looking over at me.

I jerked my neck and glowered at him. “Of course, I plan to keep the baby. I’m damn sure not about to get rid of it.”

I jumped up, ready to go the hell off. He jumped up as well and held his arms out in front of him.

“Man, chill out. There’s no need to get defensive. I don’t know a damn thing about you, and you don’t know shit about me. I’m just trying to make sure we’re on the same page or at least get on the same page.”

I nodded and sighed in relief, retaking a seat. “Sorry. My emotions are all over the place.”

He chuckled. “It’s all good.”

My cheeks burned thinking about it. We’d apologize to each other, and then we’d be back arguing.

“How do we do this?” he asked, running a hand down his face.

I shrugged, not having a clue. “I’m not sure. We can exchange numbers if you want.”

Melijah nodded. “Yes, we can do that. That way, I can check on you during the day.”

That gave me pause. Nobody had ever checked on me before. Well, my friends did, but they didn’t count.

I pressed my lips together. “That’s sweet. I left everything in the truck. I’ll give you my number, and you can text me to give me yours.”

He nodded and pulled out his cell phone. I gave him my number, and he stored the phone back in his pocket.

“As much as I’d like to sit and continue talking to you, I have to go.” He stood up. “Bye, Sky!”

“Bye!” she yelled back.

He shook his head and left the house. Skylar came out with a smile on her face.

“Well, that went better than I expected.”

I smiled and sighed in relief. “It did. I need to get to work.” I stood up from the couch. “Thanks for everything, girl.”

She smiled and hugged me. “You know I got your back.”

I hugged her back, needing it. “Okay. We’re going to talk soon.”

Once we said our goodbyes, I headed out to my truck. As soon as I got in, I decided not to return to work. I’d be going home to catch up on some sleep. Since my stomach wasn’t bothering me as much, I was hopeful I could sleep.

It feltwrong being pregnant by a man I didn’t even know. Still, I did the deed and had to accept what happened. The way we talked to one another yesterday felt like time hadn’t passed since our first encounter. It was wild to know he had the same symptoms I had. I wondered how he was doing today.

To pull myself together, I took the day off from work to sort through my feelings. I had been feeling very emotional and did some crying when I returned from Skylar’s yesterday. I bawled my eyes out on my pillow until I was all cried out.

Since last night, Melijah had been texting me, but I hadn’t responded to any of them. I was still trying to process everything. The man who got me pregnant was a stranger to me,and I knew nothing about him. He probably wanted to be there for me, but right now, I needed time to think.

Melijah:

Are you good?

Do you need anything?
