Chapter 10
Pure desire racedthrough her as Nick kissed her hungrily. His lips hard and searching.Demanding.
Mia kissed him back with the same hunger, the same need, and probably much more. She’d wanted this man her wholelife.
Wanted him and never had him, not like this. Always she yearned for him. Always dreamed of being with him, even when she told herself tostop.
Fire scorched her skin, running from the heat of their kiss and washing over her body in a desperate wave. It burned her everywhere and made her wantmore.
The music played in the background, vibes pumping around them, the place heaving with people as they danced. Everything was loud and lively, but to her the world stopped and the only two people that existed werethem.
She’d never been so open with anyone before. Never, and she’d never allowed a man to feel her up like that in public. She just needed him, wanted to feel him feel her, and know that he wanted her. When his hands caressed her breasts, she felt like she’d fall apart right there andthen.
She wasn’t ready for him to pull away when he did, and she hoped it wasn’t because he’d suddenly had some thought as to why they shouldstop.
He took her hand and led her away, out to the car park and to hiscar.
He opened the door for her to get in and she could feel his eyes on her, looking at her body with the same need shefelt.
Nick jumped in, then he looked over at her and reached over to take hold of thenecklace.
Worry filled her mind as he looked at it and she wondered if he was going to change his mind. He could be thinking all sorts of things. None of which she would be privy to, and suddenly the thought of him taking her home and this being the end of their get together made herpanic.
Mia straightened up thinking she’d take the moment into her own hands. She couldn’t allow it to slip away. She touched the sharp outline of his chiseled jaw, feeling the rough stubble of his beard, and then leaned over to kisshim.
Just the exhilaration that she could do that surged through her and increased her anxiety. She made her way over the gear stick and into his lap where he held her close to him, kissing her back hungrily, kissing her as if he needed to feel her onhim.
But then he moved back, away from her lips, and pulled in a sharpbreath.
“Jesus. Mia, I have to stop or we could both end up naked righthere.”
“That’s the idea,” she answered, her voice echoing the nerves shefelt.
“What?” He narrowed his gaze ather.
“You’ll change your mind,” she said, nodding. “If you take me home, you’ll change your mind.” She knew he would. Something always happened to distance them. Granted they’d never, ever gone this far, and this was one of those moments in life that you had to write down for the value of it. But still, she didn’t want to take any chances that this could beit.
He answered her with a laugh and ran his hand over herback.
“It’s notfunny.”
“It kind of is, Mia, because I would have to be some kind of idiot to do such a thing. I have the perfect woman on my lap who choseme.”
She stroked his face and smiled at his words. “Nick… You think that about me?” She didn’t want to ruin the moment herself by crying. No one had ever said such things to her in her life. Noone.
“It’s not a matter of opinion, it’s fact. You’re the perfect woman, Mia, and I know it looks like it took me a lifetime, but I’ve always thought so, and I’m crazy about you.” He took a lock of her hair and twirled it around hisfingers.
“I’m completely crazy about you, too,” she confessed and smiled down at his handsomeface.
He smiled back. “Well, I guess we finally know how we feel about eachother.”
“Nick…” she breathed. “You must have known that’s how I always felt. You must haveknown.”
He held her gaze and rested his head back against his seat. “Yes, baby, I’m sorry… Iknew.”
She searched the depths of his blue eyes and saw it all now. All that he held back over the years, all that he felt. It was enough, what she saw in him was enough and staved off her next question on why he never did anything before. She pressed her lips to his again for a light kiss that intensified. He held her still and moved out of the kiss again when she rocked her hips backwards and forwards and felt the length of his arousal pressing into hercenter.
It thrilled her to feel him like that against her and knowing she turned himon.
