“I never fit in there. I need to be somewhere where I’m free to follow my instincts, and free to do what I think fits. I’d like to do that with you.”
She laughed. “How are we going to do that?”
“Our own firm.”
She gasped pulling in a sharp breath, and clutching her hand to her chest.
“Are you serious?”
“Yes, angel. Imagine having our own firm. You and me. We’ll be partners, and we’ll run it together. Marc’s already agreed to work for us.”
Part two of my plan.
Last night I ran this whole idea past Marc. He was thrilled with it, and ready to join. Always and ever my best friend. We come as a duo, he reminded me.
I was lucky to have him.
“Wouldn’t you want to do this with Marc?” Her hand was still at her chest.
“He doesn’t want to be part of a partnership, he thinks it will get in the way of what he wants to do. He wants to be in charge of the trainees and scholarship program. You know do all that stuff by travelling to colleges and representing us.”
“You have this all figured out.” Her voice shook and more tears spilled down her cheeks.
I cupped her face. “No more tears angel. No more. I don’t like to see you cry.”
“I’m so happy, Alex. I haven’t felt like this in so long I can’t remember. I’ve always wanted to have my own firm.”
“Does that mean you’re saying yes?”
“Yes, oh my God, yes.”
“Are you sure? That would mean turning Morgan and Ackerman down.” I teased.
“Yes.” She laughed. “Our own firm Alex. That’s my dream.”
“Your dreams are my dreams.”
“I can’t believe it, and us together. You’re amazing. Thank you so much.”
I cupped her face. “No it’s you Summer. It’s you, angel.”
She moved in to kiss me sealing herself to me. Every kiss was a reminder of how lucky I was to have found love.
“I love you Alex Sullivan.” Summer whispered against my lips.
“I loveyoutoo, Summer Daniels. Angel.” I smiled, relishing the taste of her and of love.

My head was spinning, and elation coursed through my body.
I tried so hard to contain myself but I couldn’t.
The excitement, surprise, the shock. It was all so much.
