“What do you think Logan is going to do about it?”

“I don’t know.”

After Logan watched the video, I swear he looked pale.I’d never seen that before on him.Even though he did his best to reassure me that he’d protect me, I still worried he’d have to do something about what he saw.

I trust him, and I trust that he’d only do something to protect me.If that happens, I can’t blame him.Things are, after all, getting out of hand.

“I can’t imagine him not doing anything.”

“No, or Ethan for the matter.Much as he irritates me, I feel even better that he’s on the lookout too.” She rolls her eyes and I chuckle.“Thank God he knows how to do his job.”

“You sound more angst than usual.Right now, he’s in my very good books.”

“He pissed me off the other day in the diner.”

“You didn’t tell me that.”

“Oh, it was nothing, he was just being an ass talking shit to rile me up.He’s shocked I’m still mad about the whole fish in my car incident, and that people thought I was a hooker.”

Every time she talks about that, I can’t help but laugh. It was the name he gave her that always had me in fits of laughter. Then I’d feel bad for finding it funny.Muffin though? It was hilarious, but not.

“Oh Bree, I’m sure he’s changed now. That was fifteen years ago.”

“I don’t care, he’s the same asshole.And you know, he’s never apologized to me.Maybe if he had, I’d think he’d changed.But he hasn’t.”

“Oh, my gosh. I can’t believe you ever had a crush on him.”

Her face wrinkles with disgust.“Please don’t remind me. Not my finest moments and an example of my poor choices in men.”

I’m looking at her, and I hear what she’s saying, but I don’t completely believe she thinks that.

“Poor choices, Bree? The other week you said he was still hot.”

She blushes, a dead giveaway I’m right.“Well he is, that doesn’t mean my thoughts have changed.”

“Okay, Bree.” Best to agree with her.

The echo of the front door clicking open has us both turning toward the sound.Next comes their voices.

Logan and Ethan’s.

“What the hell have you got in here?It weighs a ton,” Ethan complains. His voice fills the passage.

“It’s all the shit from my office.I’ll need it,” Logan replies.

Bree and I stand when they both come in.

“Honey, I’m home,” Logan teases while Ethan tips his head at both of us.

Instinct moves me and I rush up to him to give him a hug. It’s only after he gives me a quick kiss that I notice the rucksack draped over his shoulder.

“Where are you going?” I ask, unable to hide the panic in my voice.

“Here, I figured the only person I trust to keep my woman safe is me.So I’m moving in, but only if you don’t mind.” He gives me an uneasy smile as if I’d disagree.

“Oh my God, really? You’ll be here?”

“Yeah, mostly. And when I’m not here, or working late, my good man here has offered up his detective services to check in on you.So we should have things covered.”
