Logan took off and the only thing that was missing was the cloud of dust.

Mr. Mulligan directs his attention to me.The quirk in his brow is an indication he’s not particularly impressed with Logan’s attitude.I’m compelled to provide some context to why Logan behaved the way he did but hold my tongue. This isn’t the time or the place to walk down memory lane. And Mr. Mulligan isn’t the guy to take that walk with.It was the man who was here moments ago.

And that’s not a walk I want to take with him.

“Did Aunt Lilly tell you why she wanted things done this way?As in me and Logan? I get most of it but surely she would have known that would place us in an awkward situation.”

He flicks to the back of the document and pulls out an envelope.

“No, but, I feel she chose you two because she knew it would mean more to her to see the two of you finish off her dream and sell the house she lived in with her husband. She spoke of having many fond memories there.Especially at the dance school. That was her first dream come true.A school right there outside her window. She said you’d understand.”

I’m nodding before he can even get out the word.“I do. It’s just going to be hard to stay here for six months.”

“It’s definitely a request I wasn’t expecting, and I’d be lying if I told you I didn’t understand.”

“I have plans in New York.”

“Look, think about it properly.I always tell my clients to weigh your options.Think of the costs and benefits. If one option is going to end up costing you what you can achieve in regard to long term success, then it’s not worth it.So think about it and let me know Friday.”

“I will.”

“Great, I’ll speak to you then.If you have any questions in the meantime let me know.”

“Thanks.”

I make my way outside and stop by the oak tree.Across the street is the boardwalk that leads down to Wrightsville Beach.

The roar of a motorcycle engine has my head turning in the direction of the sound and all I see is the cyclist tearing out of the parking lot and the shimmer of the bike as it rides away from me.

There’s only one person I know who can ride a motorcycle like that.

Logan. That was him. I know it was.

Within seconds he disappears from my sight and I’m left looking heavenward to the sky wondering what my aunt got me into.

“Auntie, thank you for the money.A million dollars is God… a million dollars, but damn, Logan Savage and six months?Couldn’t you have thought of something else?”

Jesus, what now?

What do I do now?

And did I seriously just ask myself that question?Again, as if I have better options.I don’t.

Riley quite rightly pointed out that I have nothing.

I was just looking forward to going to New York to chase my own dreams.

But can I really do that on four thousand dollars?

To be honest, it's not looking like I can.

I don't even think I'll be able to find a cereal box in New York to live in for the rate I can currently afford.

It’s just going to be hard to be here for six months.

And, harder to associate withLogan.

How are we supposed to collaborate on not just a house sale but also the refurbishment of theschool?
