“Fuck!” I laughed and rolled off of him. “You sneaky bastard.”

He cracked up and leaned up on one elbow, giving me another kiss. “Payback’s a bitch, sweet cheeks.”

A chuckle came out, and I gently smacked his chest with the back of my hand. “Yeah, yeah. That’s fair. Now come here so we can cuddle.”

“Not until you pinky swear that you won’t tickle me anymore tonight.”

I let out a put-upon sigh. “Do you swear you won’t either?”

He rolled his eyes, but he was smiling as he held his pinky out to me. “I swear.”

“Fiiiine.” I linked my pinky with his and bobbed it up and down a few times like a weird pinky handshake. “I won’t tickle you anymore…tonight.”

He narrowed his eyes. “Or in the morning, especially not when I’m asleep or just waking up.”

I sighed again like I was annoyed, but I couldn’t contain my grin. “Fine. Promise. But you better promise you won’t either.”

He rolled his eyes. “I’m not the one that always starts tickle wars.”

I snorted. “Promise me, sugar butt.”

“Oh my god, I promise. Now give me my pinky back.”

Instead of letting go, I brought his pinky up to my mouth and kissed its knuckle. “Sealed with a kiss.”

He laughed, and I released him before opening my arms. Miles grabbed the remote off the nightstand, then scooted in close. As if by cue, the three animals—Sola, Goliath, and Odin—all rushed into the bedroom and took up residence on the bed, or on top ofus. Goliath lay across my and Miles’s legs, and Odin on his belly, while Sola perched on the headboard, pecking affectionately at my hair. It made me smile.

As I lay there with my boyfriend in my arms, sated, happy, surrounded by our little animal family, I couldn’t help but wish I could have this every night.

Miles wasn’t ready to move in or even talk about moving in together, but I really hoped we were heading in that direction.

I sighed internally. For fuck’s sake, he only just admitted we were boyfriends, and I was over here wondering if I could move in with him? No way was he ready for that.

“Wanna talk about it?” Miles asked, shocking me into stillness.

Did he… did I… did I say all of that out loud?

When I didn’t respond, he leaned up off my shoulder to look at my face. “Are you okay? Are you upset about your sister?”

I blinked at him, then sagged in relief. Thank god, he didn’t know I was thinking about moving in together. He thought I was tense because of Maggie.

Which… I was. Unfortunately.

“I… am, but I’m also… kind of hopeful? Like, I’m trying not to be because we have no idea what she’s going to say or what kind of person she is after thirteen years. But… she was one of my best friends when we were kids, so I’m really hoping she’s being… genuine.”

He hugged me tighter. “I hope so too, Win. I really, really hope so.”

I hugged him back and let myself get lost in his scent and the feel of him in my arms while we watched a movie. We’d need to get up to eat, but right now, all I cared about was relaxing with my… with my boyfriend.

I grinned.My boyfriend.

Chapter Eleven

Winter

Icouldn’t remember the last time I was this nervous. I hadn’t even been this nervous when we were about to go into battle against a billion gnomes while breaking a cursed seal on the basement wall. I hadn’t been this nervous when I’d asked Miles out. I hadn’t been this nervous in… years, probably.

I couldn’t stop fidgeting.
