“Hey, Brother.” He greeted me. “Are you okay?”

I smiled. “Perfect. You’re coming home day after tomorrow, right?”

“Affirmative—seriously, are you okay?”

I nodded. “I’d like you to meet someone.”

“Hot digity!” Nikau whistled. “Do you finally have a girlfriend? Have my prayers finally been answered. I mean, blue balls is no fun and you have been a little cranky lately.”

“Of for fuck sakes” I sputtered. “Would you behave and not air my business out there like that?”

“You’re no fun.”

I shifted the camera so Nikau could see Sasha and myself at the same time. “This is Detective Sasha Bracken. Detective, Nikau Kora.”

“A detective?” Nikau smirked. “I told you to level up, brother and you’ve done very well.”

I wanted to strangle him. When I looked over at Sasha, her cheeks were red.

“Hate to burst your bubble, brother.” I protested. “But she isn’t my girlfriend. Now focus your dirty little mind for me. Please?”

“Not your girl?”

I shook my head.

“How long have I been gone?” Nikau continued. “Wait, if you two aren’t dating—what did you do?”

“It’s not like that.” Sasha laughed. “Angel isn’t in trouble.”

Nikau tilted his head. “Are you sure? Because if he’s in trouble, you can tell me.”

“I’m sure.” She replied.

“Hrm.” Nikau arched a brow. “Ooo-kay.”

“She would like our help searching for her partner who is missing.” I explained. “And it may have something to do with Engine-O-Con.”

“My convention?” Nikau tilted his head. “But it hasn’t happened yet this year. I’m not sure how it has anything to do with it.”

“I’m going to need you on this, Nik.” I told him.

“You’re serious.” Nikau leaned closer.

I nodded.

Nikau cocked his brow then exhaled long and loud. “I’m not finished here. I still have three more meetings and I can’t miss any of them.”

“I’ll send Shane to finish up for you.” I told him. “Do me a solid.”

“That’s a good idea. Let me put some things in place and then I’ll be on the next flight in.”

“I owe you.” I told him.

“Me too!” Sasha added.

“Being owed a favor by a pretty lady, well, my day is looking up already.” Nikau winked at her. “As for you, Angel James, you owe me some home cookin’”

“Sir, yes sir.” I offered him a mock salute.
