I shook my head to clear it, turned along the beach toward the peninsula in the water. Tiberius loved that section of the beach.

For a moment, my head was clear, but that didn’t last very long.

My mind drifted to Sasha and the way she looked the night before. The black romper hugged her body perfectly with exposed shoulders. All the time we were together, I was tempted to lean over and brush my lips against the bare flesh.

Her beauty was evident since the day I met her but last night was something else. Her painted lips called to me—I wanted to have them imprinted on my neck, my pecs, my—

Tiberius barked and I looked up. I was back at the beach and he was looking up at my place. I tilted my head to see Hawk standing there, arms folded, watching me.

Only this time, she was decked out in blue jeans that was perfect over her sculpted thighs, her hung holstered to her hip and those breasts—

Tiberius barked and bum wiggled.

Hawk waved and I smiled while rubbing Tiberius’ head.

“That’s no way to greet a lady, boy.” I laughed. “You know better.”

He licked my hand and took off toward the waves again. “Tiberius!”

The dog wiggled his bum at me then ducked his head under the water. I waited until he surfaced again, ran to the shore and shook himself. I whistled to get his attention then started back up the path toward my place. Tiberius followed then fell in step beside me until we were back on the landing at the house.

She stared at me with a tilt of her head. I wasn’t used to the way she looked at me. Her eyes trailed down my bare chest to the waist of my track pants then up again. Heat followed her gaze, and I had to chew on the insides of my cheek to kill the moan I knew was threatening to escape my body.

“Hi.” I managed.

“Morning.” Hawk replied. “Sorry to just pop in.”

Tiberius growled at her.

“Ty…” I warned. “You’ve seen her before. Now, stop this.”

Hawk hunched down and held out her hand—it wasn’t a way to pet him, but to have him sniff at her. The last time she was there Tiberius had taken very little interest in her. The moment Tiberius realized Hawk hadn’t been a threat, he merely wandered off. Now, he was soaking wet and hadn’t been towelled off yet, but he seemed to be keen on her, curious.

I watched, holding my breath, as he slowly walked toward her, sniffing at her hand. Tiberius had never shown any violence toward people—only if they posed a threat. That happened once and I had to put myself between Tiberius and the offending party. He backed down when I called out to him and he saw me in the way.

“Hi boy!” She cooed.

After a few seconds, he licked her hand, and the stalemate was broken.

He allowed her to scratch him behind his ear as he offered her kisses.

Hawk giggled and rubbed his belly. “It’s nice to meet you too Tiberius.”

“A pretty face does it for you, huh Ty?” I chuckled while reaching for the towel.

“He’s after all a boy.” She laughed especially when Tiberius rolled over to give her his belly for a scratching.

“Pull yourself together, man.” I teased while handing her the towel to dry him off. “At least play hard to get.”

“Ain’t nobody got time for that.” Hawk rubbed the pup’s side. “Right, Tiberius?”

“Ugh.” I teased and went inside. I washed my hands then put some coffee on. Tiberius hurried into the house and went for his bowls. Sasha walked in and set the towel on one of the stools then sat on the other.

“How do you take your coffee?” He asked.

“Black.”

I paused.
