“Is it weird that I don’t remember sleeping better than when I’m in his arms?” I whispered.

Eris giggled. “You’ve got it bad.”

“Right?” I asked. “Oh gawd!”

Eris and Nikau didn’t go with us to the flight. They returned to Angel’s place to prepare with Tex. The rest of us pooled into two vehicles and met with the private jet at a private airport close by. There were a lot of favours being called in to get us in the air, but I didn’t care.

As long as I was able to bring Kingston home.

I felt naked without my badge. But I wasn’t going to Mexico as a cop. Being this close to finding Kingston was almost edible. I was afraid to be too excited because with cartels, things changed almost at the drop of a hat. I looked around me at the small army that had chosen to have my back. It was strange for me to even comprehend their generosity.

In the army, the men treated me as if I was stealing their virginity.

As a member of the Tulsa police, they acted as if someone had given me a badge without earning it. I Worked my ass off to get into the army, to gather the experiences I had. Then when I returned home, I did it again, pushing through the academy to ear my shield.

If anything, I had more experience and training.

But here, when I walked into a room, the men around me listened. They valued my opinion and protected me like my teams should have.

Dude was snoozing in one of the leather seats to my left. Ghoul was listening to music from a pair of massive headphones and bopping his head to the beat. Romeo was in one of the bigger seats behind me.

And then there was Angel—my man.

I giggled softly and hung my head.

My man sat across from me, his muscular frame filling the seat. His dark skin as flawless as the day I’d met him, except for a scar just between his eyebrows. Those full lips had done things to me that had me breathless and screaming. They did things to my body which I should have been ashamed of but couldn’t find even a little bit of motivation to be.

I remembered the hot brown of his eyes, the slight flare of his nose as he came and the echo of his voice as my name was ripped from his lips.

I’d done that to him.

And I couldn’t be any happier with myself.

Angel James was breathtaking—his body, his voice, his strength.

A shiver stormed down my spine and I turned my head out the window to watch as the rising sun turned the clouds all sort of vibrant orange. I wasn’t sure how long I was staring out, but something brought my attention back to Angel.

He was watching me with a simmering kind of hunger that sent my heart racing and my thighs rubbing together. Angel licked his lips and I melted.

“You know what you’re doing to me.” I told him.

“Do I?” He smirked.

I growled at him only making him laugh. He drew his long legs in, spreading his thick thighs and leaned forward to rest his elbows on them. “Come here, Hawk.” His voice soft, raspy—sexy.

Unable to stop myself, I unclipped my seatbelt and leaned forward to meet him halfway.

“Have you ever been taken on a beach?”

“We’re not alone.” I smacked his thigh.

“Yes or no.”

“No.”

He kissed my right cheek—his lips a murmur of a connection but left behind fire.

“You can’t ever change.” I whispered to him. “I’m taking such a risk on you.”
