He laughed. “Fine. If I must.”
“Keegan, take this out back for the table for me.” Hawk called to our son.
“Sure, mom.” He replied, accepted the jug of juice and carried it out to where we’ll have our guests for the gathering.
“Did you hear that?” Hawk asked, tears toppling down her cheeks.
“He called you mom.” I smiled and pulled her into my arms. “Don’t cry.”
“But it’s the first time.”
When Keegan returned and noticed she was crying, he arched a brow over a worried eye and hurried over to frame her face with his palms. “Mom? What’s wrong?”
“You called me mom.” She sobbed happily hugging Keegan until he groaned. “You called me mom!”
“Mom!” He protested. “That’s what you are, aren’t you? I mean, you signed the papers.”
I laughed as Hawk kissed his cheeks over and over.
“Pop, help?”
I grinned like a goof and joined in on the hugging.
Keegan laughed. “That’s not helping.”
“Of course, it is.” I told him.
He allowed us to hold him until the doorbell rang. Keegan wiggled from our arms and both he and Tiberius ran to get the door.
I kissed Hawk deeply.
“I’m so happy.” She told me.
Happy voices sounded from the hall and soon Eris arrived with Ghoul with their little boy, Ayden, but no Cam.
“Where’s Cam?” I asked.
“She went to pick up the boyfriend.” Ghoul told me. “The horrors of having a teenager who can date and drive.”
We hugged and led them into the backyard, overlooking the beach.
Little by little the others arrived. Cam entered with Patrick who carried a large Pyrex dish of honey garlic chicken wings. Keegan helped him to put the covered container into the oven to heat up. The teenagers then wandered off on their own.
Tiberius took off, barking after them as if to yell, wait for me!
Wolf and most of his team including Tex and Dude were next with Melody and Cheyenne arrived. When Romeo and Leta arrived, I looked behind them.
“Where’s Nikau?” I asked. “I thought he was coming with you guys.”
“He said he had something to do real quick.” Romeo told me as we touched fists. “I’m thinking it has something to do with the club, but I could be wrong. Where’s the party?”
I thumbed over my shoulder toward the backyard then exhaled. “Keegan stocked the beers. If you want wine, grab a bottle from the fridge.”
“I got it babe.” Leta kissed Romeo before he headed for the door.
“Are you happy?” I asked her.
Leta giggled then lifted a pendant off her chest. I hadn’t noticed it before, but it was in the shape of a daisy and hanging off a white gold necklace. “Romeo bought it for me.”
