Ever since my first sexual experience, I’d been good.
Sex was always at night, in my bedroom, with the curtains pulled in place.
Yet with Rei, I’d opened myself up to him and it was barely lunch time. I’d taken from his body and listened to the primal growls to escape his very soul. With him, I wanted to be savoured, be devoured—be consumed by his passionate rage then watch as he burned for me.
His eyes had melted me in a way that terrified me.
Rei hadn’t only made love to me. He’d fucked me until my toes curled and I wanted to do it again. As I watch him field a phone call, gun strapped in his holster, badge shining on his belt, I realized I wasn’t even a little bit ashamed for the things I’d done to his body earlier.
When he caught me staring, I was woman enough to be coy about it, but I couldn’t help the smile I hid behind my coffee mug.
When he was finally off the phone, I set a glass of lemonade in front of him and eased back in my seat.
“That was Patrick.” He announced. “He’s on his way back. I also received a text from Jasmine. We’ll have to relieve her.”
“Maybe when Patrick gets here.” I told him.
Rei nodded after a sip from the glass. “Yeah. I haven’t heard from Eton.”
“Call him?”
Rei did and after a brief talk, he hung up the phone and grabbed his coat. “We have to go.”
“What’s the matter?”
“Eton believes he’s being tailed.” Rei replied as we hurtled out the door. “He’s coming in this direction. Hopefully, we can meet up with them before these guys realize he knows they’re there.”
Rei got behind the wheel and as we sped toward Eton, my heart raced inside me. I gripped the dashboard and fought the urge to close my eyes.
The roads in Jamaica were probably not what Rei was used to driving on. If the surface was flat, it wouldn’t be all that bad but the region I lived in was made up of patches and hills.
It took a good twenty minutes before we found Eton’s car. Rei put a call through to the soldier.
“Sir.” Eton answered.
“Red car?” Rei asked.
“Yes, sir.”
“Okay, Eton listen carefully.” Rei was checking his mirrors even as he spoke. “I’m going to pull a U turn. Once I’m behind you, I need you to pull over and stay in the car. Got it.”
“Yes, sir.”
I bit back a scream as Rei flipped a rather unsafe turn then slowed to a stop as Eton did as he was told. No sooner had he stopped than two men alighted from the red car with guns. One headed toward Eton’s vehicle, the other headed for us. Out of instincts, I unclipped my seatbelt.
He moved to the driver’s side and Rei pushed open the door hard, clocking the man in the midsection. Rei moved quickly to subdue the man by picking him up by the throat and body-slamming him into the side of the jeep. The vehicle rocked dangerously but I was busy climbing out the other side and making my way around to the back of the jeep.
The attacker slumped to the ground unconscious and Rei turned his attention toward the other who was now getting his ass kicked by Eton. As I watched from where I stood, Eton spun in a kick that landed to his assailant’s head.
We then worked to pile the men into Eton’s trunk then Rei slipped on some gloves and searched their car. When he came up for air, he held up an ID card.
“Marlon Ortega.” He muttered. “He’s not Jamaican.”
“You think?” I muttered, remembering the man who came for Rei was Hispanic looking. I searched my mind then nodded. “Ortega was the one you took out, Rei.”
“And we don’t know who the other man is.” Eton exhaled. “We should leave this place. It’s only a matter of time before these cars draw some unnecessary attention. Back to the base?”
Rei nodded. “The car can be driven into our hanger, so we’ll do that.”
