“You can have today and most of tomorrow to rest up after such a long flight.” Justice’s voice was soft behind me.

“It’s nice here.” I admitted. “The smell of the ocean and the fruit trees.”

“I’ll bring you some stuff later.” Justice promised. “For now, I’ll leave you to get washed up. Would an hour be good for me to pick you up?”

“Where we going?”

“I’m getting you some authentic Jamaican food.” Justice smirked. “It’ll be the most delicious thing you’ll ever put in your mouth.”

I grinned mischievously.

“Don’t even think about it.” Justice laughed while heading for the door. “One hour, Zero.”

“Sir, yes sir!” I called after him.

With the sound of his engine dying in the distance, I stashed away my gun and badge then made my way down the stairs. I opened the fridge to put the water bottles in.

To my surprise, someone had stocked the fridge with all kinds of food—milk, eggs, bacon, orange juice. I’d told them they didn’t have to.

Still, I set the water away, adjusted the temperature in the place, then packed away all my snacks.

A glance at the clock told me I was running out of time for Justice to pick me up again. Grunting, I rushed through a shower and with a towel around my hips, I checked the time difference before video calling home.

Beast was the one to pick up as my friends gathered around him.

I laughed. “You’re all there?” I teased.

“Zero, what-a gwaan, mon?” Beast asked in a horrible Jamaican accent.

I blinked while the others laughed.

“Don’t do that again.” I chuckled. “How are you guys doing?”

“We’re good.” Barbie reported. “How are you liking Jamaica?”

“It’s hot as hell down here.” I admitted. “Thankfully, there’s A/C. I haven’t gotten to see much yet, but Justice is coming to take me out for some food. He said it’ll be the most delicious thing I’d ever put in my mouth.”

Mouth laughed out loud. “I can guarantee it won’t be.” He ended by wiggling his brows at me suggestively.

“That’s what I was thinking.” I smirked.

“Children.” Pitbull warned in his father tone. “What did I tell you about the gutter?”

“If we’re going to go there, we should bring cookies.” Mouth replied.

Beast facepalmed.

“So, did your new officer arrive?” I asked.

“Don’t say it like that.” Crash sighed. “We’re not replacing you.”

It felt like it.

I knew it was only an exchange, but it was weird not being there for my guys. I smiled and changed the subject.

When the conversation ended, I dressed in a simple pair of shorts and a graphic t-shirt. I checked to ensure I had my wallet and by the time Justice returned, I was ready.

He parked in a private lot and we made our way inside a restaurant. It was crowded but we didn’t stop in the regular area. Instead, we exited out the back to an area lit with overhead lightning, with barely audible music and beautifully set tables.
