“Where the hell are you going?”
“Going to take a closer a look.” I replied. “This is just a fact-finding mission.”
“What about the drone?” She asked. “Isn’t that safer than you waltzing in there?”
I sighed. “We’re already here. Sit tight.”
I left them and entered the property from above.
It wasn’t hard to scale one of the walls and used a pipe to pull myself up to the roof.
I sprinted across, launched myself through the air and landed in a roll to the other side.
I used the vantage point to get a better look around, to see where the cameras where and the different entrances and exits.
I couldn’t find a vehicle.
If anyone was there, they were all on the interior or the different structures.
After I had a look around, I returned to the others and we left.
I wasn’t sure the drone would be of much help. I’d see what there was to see on the outside, and I’d told them so.
We needed more to find Jeremy.
Back at my place, Demon was already waiting for Mamba had messaged him from the car. I sat quietly in the back, with Nella snuggled into my chest. I’d never seen her that quiet and it scared me.
Once we were inside, Nella offered to grab drinks, but I sat her down and made a run to the kitchen for her. When we settled down in the living room, we tossed ideas around.
We’d lost the golden window.
The kidnappers had called, and Jade fucked it up. I prayed Jeremy didn’t hear about that. The last thing we needed was for him to feel as if no one cared.
“Does he have a cell?” Demon asked.
“No.” Nella replied. “Mama didn’t think he should have one.”
“Isn’t he sixteen?” Mamba asked. “What sixteen-year-old don’t have a phone? Even a basic one for emergencies.”
“You don’t know her mother very well.” I frowned. “She’s the same woman who hung up on the kidnappers, remember?”’
“She’s not that bad.” Nella muttered.
“Okay.” I muttered and drained my cup. “I’m going to go look for the drone.”
“That thing?” Demon asked. “We haven’t used it in years and even then, it wasn’t really that good.”
“Well, it’s either the drone or we go in on foot.” I explained to them. “I do parkour and can navigate the buildings. But I wouldn’t be able to do it on my own so, it’s either I teach you guys to free run or…”
Mamba and Demon didn’t like the idea of me going in alone. I left them to dig through the storage room to find the drone.
When I finally did, the power button wasn’t working on the remote. I sighed—it probably just needed charging.
I brought it back to the others and plugged it in to charge. It was probably going to take all night.
My brothers, though frustrated, left me alone with Nella who was on the phone with her mother.
Just the thought of that woman made my blood boil. Instead of sitting around watching Nella’s head explode, I showered.
