Telling the truth was the only thing I had in that moment. It was a double-edged sword—if I told the truth, I could lose him. If I didn’t tell the truth, I could lose him.
“Yes.” I hung my head.
Kid used a finger to lift my chin. “Why? Tell me why? Is it the tattoos?”
I shook my head. “The tattoos turn me on.”
Kid smiled. “Be honest.”
“You’re a man.” I admitted. “Not in the way people usually define a man. But you’re strong, and protective and supportive and your body makes crazy. I feel feeling as if I’m doing something wrong feeling like this for you.”
“My age.”
“Aren’t you worried that in a few years people are going to ask youwho’s the old woman?”
“Sweetheart, I’ve never given a fuck what anyone thought of me.” Kid’s gaze serious. “Ever since I was a teenager. And you shouldn’t be surprised about how I am, you’ve met my brothers. Nella, tell me this—do you want me?”
“Yes.”
His large shoulders fell heavily. “Say it again.”
“I want you.” My voice cracked and I eased forward. “All of you. I’m so sorry.”
Kid took my right hand and pulled me forward and wrapped his arms around me. I sighed as his large chest,
“You don’t have to be afraid.” He promised me. “I’ve wanted you ever since the moment you walked Demon’s place with Chelsea. I didn’t care about your age, or that you came with a side of crazy in the form of your mother. All I saw was you. If you want me, if you’re in for the long term then that’s my dream come true.”
Tangling my arms around his neck, I cried. “I love you too.”
Kid laughed softly before kissing me until I was breathless. “I did say that, didn’t I?” He asked around a few more toe-curling kisses.
“I love you, Nella.” He pushed my hair from my face to frame my cheeks. “This love is between the both of us, no one else.”
“Even if I come with Jeremy?”
“Even if you come with Jeremy.”
“Do you want kids of your own?” I asked. “Because—well, I do.”
Kid tapped my nose with a finger. “Yes. I want to have babies of my own. Now, stop worrying about all that. Everything is settled, I require sustenance.”
He used large thumbs to wipe my tears away.
“Okay.” I sniffled. “Let me turn the oven on to warm things up.”
When I turned to walk away, he tapped my ass.
I giggled. “Stop that.”
“Really?”
I winked at him. “Thanks for coming back. I’m sorry we lied to get you here. but you wouldn’t talk to me. Thinking I’d lost you was such a bad feeling….”
Kid hung his head. “Where’s Jeremy?”
“With Jia and Mamba.” I replied. “Um—can you stay the whole weekend?”
Kid nodded, watching me walk around the counter to do what I’d told him. “I don’t have any jobs until September. So, we can stay here for as long as we’d like—until Demon and Chelsea kicks us out.”
“Perfect.” I replied. “Do you mind if we…”
“If we?”
After turning on the oven and setting the timer, I faced him again. “This weekend I want—um—I mean…”
“This weekend you want me naked and tied to your bed.”
My cheeks flushed. “Can we?”
“Oh, hell yes.”
