I regretted nothing.

By the time she got to me, I was positively exhausted. But her spirits went a long way to uplifting me—if not all the way, at least I wasn’t cracking beneath the pavement.

“So, that’s Kid’s girl, huh.” Jamilla asked, frowning. “Why does she think you’re taking him?”

“I mean, I do have a crush on the man.” I admitted while sticking my nails under the light. “But I know he has a girl. It’s not my fault she’s not comfortable in her relationship.”

“That feels like a her problem.”

“Right!” I sighed.

“I’m pretty sure she’s going to go complain to Kid.”

“Of course, she is.” I laughed. “But I’m not afraid to give him an ass-whooping too.”

Jamilla chortled. “O-M-G! I’d pay to see that.”

I scrunched my nose at her but chuckled.

Though I wasn’t in the mood for one, it made no sense to put my life on hold because I couldn’t get the man I wanted.

Eventually, I made my way home, trying my best to get some work done but thoughts of Kid, his girlfriend and Jeremy’s sadness conspired inside my mind to drive me mad. I signed off on a few things and sent them back to the office, but other than that, I was basically useless for the rest of the day.

Chelsea called. Though I picked up, it was only because she was pregnant and that could have been the call. Turned out she only wanted to check on me to see how I was doing.
