“You’re right!” Frost frowned. “I forgot about that.”

“So where would they take him?”

Frost frowned. “Tex.”

“Hey there.”

I arched a brow while leaning over to peer at the screen.

Tex grinned at me.

“You scare me.” I told him.

“Awww, you say the sweetest things.” Tex drawled.

I shook my head. “That wasn’t a compliment, John Keegan—you know what? Never mind.”

“What’s up?” Tex asked.

Frost proceeded to explain everything to him. When she was finished, the Texan made a thoughtful sound in the back of his throat.

“That makes sense,” Tex said. “I mean, Ray is all about self-preservation. I’ve been running facial recs but so far nothing. It was a long shot anyway. In the meantime, Mozart and Cookie are doing a little digging for us.”

“Good. Any idea why Blink would be here without his team?” I asked Tex.

“Blink is in Montenegro?” Tex asked. “What?”

“Didn’t I tell you that?” Frost sounded distracted.

“No!” Tex exclaimed. “That’s the kinda shit you lead with.”

Frost’s frown deepened. “Sorry. Blink’s here and after we grilled Ray, he ran to Blink. We couldn’t hear the conversation but there hasn’t been any chatter of any of them being here.”

“No chatter here either.” Tex confirmed. “This is weird. The rest of Striker’s team is here—there’s no movement on them flying out. Theirs is movement of Blink flying into Greece.”

“He must have found a way into Montenegro from there,” Frost said thoughtfully.

“Why fly to Greece?” I asked.

“Well.” Tex was stilling working away. “He couldn’t fly straight into Montenegro from here. Striker would know. And him flying to one of the countries around Montenegro would cause the military to start asking questions.”

“Serbia…Kosovo—got it.” I sighed. “What now?”

“You and I are going to hit the road.” Frost told me. “We’re going to try getting our hands on—”

“Um—Frost. Grab everything and get out of that house. Do it now!” The urgency in Tex’s voice was evident. “Call through again when you’re safe.”

Frost didn’t question it. She slammed the laptop shut and shoved it into a nearby bag. “Grab your things. Only what you can carry. We’re out of here in one minute.”

I took off running down the hall. I hadn’t unpacked anything so, it wasn’t hard to leave in one minute. By the time I returned, Frost was fully dressed and shoving her feet into a pair of boots that looked military.

She tossed a bag over her back and pulled a gun from her hip holster as she led me through the house.

Through a side door, we entered a garage. I rushed around the black car that seemed like another sports car with a grill on the front. I had never seen a civilian with those on their vehicles before. They were always on military or police vehicles.

Once I was in, she jumped in beside me and the engine roared—it literally roared!

Without waiting, the car propelled forward.
