“You’ve been there.” Jesse set his plate aside. “Did you buy anything?”

I couldn’t answer. My face was on fire.

“Blink once for yes.” Jesse leaned forward excitedly. “Twice for no.”

“You’re a dick.” I frowned and went searching for a drink.

“You blinked once!”

“Jesse.”

He sighed. “You can’t expect me to behave after you kissed me. Then on top of that, you telling me you know about the underground sex shop. Why are you so afraid of telling me what you bought?”

“Because it’s private.”

Jesse licked his lips. “Okay—I’ll behave.”

But that wasn’t what I wanted either. I wanted him to ask to see my toys, to use them on me—to at least kiss me again.

“Um…Abigail?”

“I told you, I’m not showing you what I bought.”

“The glass is full.”

“Huh?” I glanced down to see the glass was full and overflowing. “Shit!” I squealed then scrambled to clean up the mess.

“You do understand you just admitted you bought something atLover’s Folly, right?” He asked.

I sighed, my hands shaking.

“It was just a kiss, Frost. Its obviously bothering you.” Jesse seemed resigned to our current situation. “Don’t worry about it, okay?”

It seemed as though he didn’t believe the words coming out of his mouth. “I’ll back off so you can forget about it.”

He set his plate away from him and helped me dry up the juice I’d spilled.

Jesse eventually climbed into bed to get some rest. I could exhale then and try ignoring the way my body pulsed each time I thought of the way I’d grabbed him.

He hadn’t complained.

Instead, he’d grabbed me and kissed me back in a way I never thought would turn me on. Desperate for air, I grabbed my loaded gun and shoved it into a holster against my lower back and pulled my jacket on. Before leaving, I ensured the place was secured and checked on Jesse. His body looked so good wrapped in soft, white sheets and moonlight.

Though I wanted to crawl into bed with him, I swallowed the lump in my throat and slipped out of the house. I didn’t take a vehicle—the engine would have woken Jesse and he would want to come with me or drill me with a bunch of questions I didn’t have answers to.

Pulling my hood over my hair, I made my way through the darkness, all the way back to where we’d seen Blink the night I’d confronted Ray. The house was empty, but I knew Blink was still staying there. While I had the run of the place, I checked it out, being careful not to touch anything to leave prints.

There wasn’t much there.

Blink was the typical spec ops soldier—he travelled light and left nothing behind when he had to go.

I waited until I heard the engine of a car enter the front yard. The headlights shown into the small home, but I didn’t move until I heard the front door opening. I made no effort to hide but braced myself as Blink entered the space.

“Never thought I’d see you again.” Blink’s voice was the same, husky.

“You’ve gotten old.” I pointed out. “Is it the years or the guilt?”

“Get off my dick, would you?” Blink frowned. “What do you want?”
