“I’m fine mom. We can talk later. Go get the dogs.”
“Okay, my love,” Jager said and was gone.
Cage drove us all the way back to the ranch, then rushed up the stairs to call his best friend Andrew. The two of them were constantly talking—text, video, Facebook. I shook my head and dumped my keys into a bowl by the door.
I texted back and forth with Kujo ensuring that he and the rest of the gang would be on time for dinner. The catering company called, giving us the head’s up that they were on their way. I wandered into our pantry and brought up two cases of beers and stocked the beer fridge. Once that was done, I put wine to chill, sodas, bottled waters, everything I could think of.
It was a surprise for Cage, but the world could end, and he wouldn’t know. When he got on the phone with Andrew, everything else seem to fade away for him.
The catering company showed up and it took four of them, plus me to bring all the food through the house and out onto the back. I was glad they arrived before the dogs came back.
Once I checked to ensure all the food, plus the cake was in order, I released the rest of the funds to them, and they were off.
Jager returned and fed the dogs, showered and was back by the time our friends began showing up. Sadie hugged us and wandered through the house and into the back with Montana. Duke, Bear, Reaper arrived with their ladies. It was nice meeting Nova Forge. She was a delight.
Kujo arrived with Six who immediately took off to play with Lili and Bane. I watched the dogs for a second, smiled then turned to focus on Jager.
She was tired.
We surprised Cage with the party for passing his test they took him outside to the garage to gift him the truck we’d gotten for him. It wasn’t brand new. Everyone we spoke to told us it was dumb to give a sixteen-year-old a brand-new vehicle. Instead, we’d gone out, found a used one, made sure it was checked out by my mechanic and repaired as well as painted.
Cage was over-the-moon excited. He didn’t care it was a used truck—he was just happy he had his own wheels.
We’d lecture him later.
For the first time since I moved in with Jager, we had family and laughter in the house of people other than myself, Jager and Cage.
Our son flittered between the adults and his best friend. After a while, the two of them headed out to play with the dogs while the others mingled.
By the time the party ended, Jager and I took all the keys. Everyone found a place to sleep for the night and I removed my prosthetic and set it in the spot by the bed Jager had insisted on creating specifically for that.
When I finally fell backward onto the bed, Jager walked over to sit beside me. She rested a palm to the center of my chest and smiled down at me.
“Hi baby.” I smiled up at her.
“Hi.”
“You look tired.”
Jager closed her eyes and nodded then looked at me again. “Exhausted.”
“Come here.”
Holding her by the back of her neck, I pulled her down to kiss her deeply.
It didn’t stop there. Checking to ensure the door was closed, I stripped her naked and knelt over her. Staring down at her, the beauty of her eyes, the perfection of her breasts with darkened peaks—I lost my breath.
“It’s been all this time and you still take my breath away.” I admitted.
Even after all this time, when I complimented her, she blushed. I couldn’t tell by the colour of her cheeks—but she giggled softly and averted her eyes.
I reached down to caress her nipples then down between her breasts and she sighed. With her arms around me, I leaned down, stretched my body on her to kiss her deeply. I moved down her frame, kissing, licking, nibbling on every part of her body I could reach.
She whispered my name, pulled my hair and came for me.
It still excited me when she climaxed because of me.
“I love you.” She sighed as her body shook. “I love you so much.”
