After some deodorant and perfume, I gathered my purse, checked to ensure my wallet was in it along with keys and my cell, then wandered down the stairs.

Trucker was waiting outside by his truck—leaning against the side of the massive vehicle, ankles crossed, cell by his ear.

He laughed at something the person on the other end said and bowed and shook his head. His perfectly plump lips, his white teeth, his dark skin?—

Sweet baby Jesus.

Clearing my throat, I exhaled the breath I’d been holding and stepped through the door. I stopped to lock it behind me then jogged down the steps.

“We should take my car.” I pointed. “I know my way around.”

Trucker hung up and arched a brow.

Slowly, he leaned back to look at my vehicle and arched a brow again.

“Look at me.” Trucker held his arms out at this side before doing a twirled that gave me a full, panoramic view of his body.

I bit back a moan.

“Um?”

“How much of me do you think will fit in that?” He asked.

I mentally face palmed.

I giggled. “What do you suggest then?”

He extended the keys to his truck.

“Um.” My cheeks flushed. “Men don’t like it when strange women drive their trucks. And yours look expensive.”

Most men would never even consider a woman driving their vehicle—much less a woman they barely knew.

“Most men are stupid.” Trucker muttered.

I giggled.

“Go on,” he said.

“Trucker—I mean…”

He took my hand in his large paws, turned it palm up and dropped the keys in. Winking at me, he wandered around to the passenger side and climbed in.

Oh, dear gawd. He’s serious.

Before he could call out to me again, I made my way over, opened the door and hauled myself up and into the driver’s seat.

When I twisted the key in the ignition, the engine roared and a surged of adrenaline rushed through me while I pulled my belt on.

Shifting the truck into drive, I glanced around the vehicle out of habit. Sometimes animals ran out of the woods. Seeing the way is clear, I slowly eased the truck back toward the dirt path leading to the road.

On the main road, I let the beast run. The engine roared as the wind flowed into the vehicle, making its own music the faster I went.

“See?” Trucker tapped my shoulder with a gentle finger. “You got this.”

“This truck seems heavily customized.” I pointed out. “Almost liked a war vehicle. I mean, I’ve never driven anything this big before.”

“It’s only a vehicle, Taji.”
