“I swear an animal can spot a friend a mile off.” Cosmo wraps his hands around Wallace and deftly lifts him out of my arms.
“I really don’t think that’s a good idea because—”
“Wallace and I are agreed we’re in disagreement with that. Aren’t we, Wallace?”
Cosmo gives me a triumphant grin over the top of my cat’s head. My cat who is now very obviously snuggling up against Cosmo’s chest.
“So what about that coffee? Then maybe we can think about dessert? Or maybe it should be dessert then coffee? I can’t decide.” His eyes on mine are teasing and tempting. Dessert… I don’t think Cosmo’s definition has much to do with tiramisu or gelato.
I swallow hard… My cheeks throb as I blush like a bloody awkward school boy.
Cosmo chuckles. “Seriously, coffee would be good.”
“Okay, erm, if you want to go into the living room, I’ll—”
“Nope. We’re coming with you. Aren’t we, boy?” Cosmo says, as he follows me to the kitchen, chatting away to Wallace.
