It’s whatever you want it to be.

It was his decision… Joss drew in a deep breath as he picked up the box.

It was his decision…

Nestled in the dark blue silk was a ring, a band of plain platinum. With careful fingers, he lifted it from the box. It felt solid, it felt right.

“There can only be one decision, and one answer. One word.”

“One word?”

“Yes.” Joss held the ring out for Oliver take.

With a sure and steady hand, Oliver slipped the ring onto the only finger it would ever fit and would never leave.

“I love you, Joss, I love you so much. God knows, I almost wrecked us, but—”

Joss pressed his fingers to Oliver’s lips.

“All that’s gone, it’s behind us. All my plans and ambitions are here and now, and tomorrow, and all the days and weeks, and all the months and years to come. They’re with you, Oliver, and only you, because I love you more than you could know.”

Joining their hands, their fingers intertwining, Joss led Oliver, his man, always his man, through the garden, into the house and upstairs, as the blackbird began once more to trill its clear, bright song.
