“I’m fucking givin’ it to you, sweetheart,” he grunts, swiveling his hips back and forth, back and forth, harder and harder.

If I wasn’t out of my mind with desire, I might feel embarrassed by the sound of wet slapping. But there’s something about it that only heightens what I’m feeling, so I hold on tight and let out a long, low moan as my insides coil and—

“Ajaaaaaxxxxxxx! mmmerpherbulargsh!”

A hand muffles my screams.

“Shhh.” Ajax chuckles and groans and shudders all at the same time, his hand over my mouth as I press my teeth into the side of his palm and we release together, his thick cock pulsing a hot heat deep inside of me. “Fucking hell, sweetheart. That was a trip. A good one—an amazing one—but a trip.”

He pulls his hand from my mouth and I just lie there and breathe, so warm despite the cold night that it’s almost like I’ve just run a marathon. “I’m gonna take that as a compliment.”

“It was meant as one,” he says, leaning down and kissing me slowly before pulling back and getting off the bed.

“Where are you going?”

He grins at me in a way that melts my insides. “To get a washcloth. You’re gonna be a mess down there, and I’m gonna clean you up.”

“Such a gentleman.”

He winks at me. “Gotta take care of my girl.”

Sitting up as he pulls on his pants then walks out of the room, I hug my knees to my chest, repeating those last few words to myself over and over while smiling from ear to ear.Gotta take care of my girl.

I lie back and sigh. I’m his girl.

After extricating myself from tangled limbs and sheets a little before sunrise, I kissed Ainsley deeply and promised I’d be back in a few a hours. I promised Elena I’d make her more breakfast muffins, plus I’ve got some work and calls to make—namely one where I try to work out how I can help Ainsley keep custody of her sister legally.

“Sounds complicated,” Danny, my boss, says after I’ve filled him in on the details. Bureaucracy is a nightmare, but out of all the people I know in this world, Danny Cardiff is the one most likely to be connected enough to help us cut through some tape.

“It is. And they haven’t had it easy, but they’re good kids, Dan. They deserve a second chance.” Sliding the choc-beet muffins into the oven, I balance my cell between my shoulder and ear.

“And what connection do you have to these two? It isn’t like you to call in a favor for some random person you just met.”

“You’re gonna think I’m nuts if I tell you, man.” I shut the oven and grab my cell again while I set the timer.

“Let me guess; you’re sweet on the older one?”

“Sweet? What are you, fifty?”

He chuckles. “Almost. But I have a young wife, so…”

“Young, huh? Did you lose your head over her the moment you met her too?”

“Enough to buy a fucking island and give it to her as a wedding present two weeks later?”

Laughter bubbles out of me before I have a chance to catch it. “Bullshit.”

“No shit here, my friend. Marnie and I met, fell in love, got married and I bought her a damn island as a wedding gift. First crazy thing I’ve ever done and the best one too.”

“Well, I’m not a billionaire. So buying this girl an island is out of the question.”

“Maybe. But my story gets even crazier. The best man and maid of honor at our wedding left the reception together and got hitched by the town baker.”

I laugh in disbelief. “What the hell?”

“None of us are immune to Cupid’s bow, my friend.”
