Baxter throws his hands up. “What does that even mean?”
Axel subtly nods at Cole, letting him know it’s okay to tell them. “Have you ever heard of the Saviors?”
Roland’s brows furrow. “Yeah. But it’s a bullshit rumor to scare people.”
Cole shakes his head. “You’re sitting in the room with them. Some of them, anyway.”
Baxter laughs, but it’s without humor. “You think we’re going to fucking believe that.” He looks at me. “What’s the game here, Chels?”
“There is no game. They’re telling you the truth. They are the Saviors. That’s why you can’t find anything on them.” I move to my own chair. “I wouldn’t lie to you about something like this, and they would never intentionally put my life in danger.”
Baxter drops back in his chair, letting all that information sink in. “The fucking Saviors. Jesus Christ.” He scrubs a hand down his face and exchanges a look with Roland. “What do you need from us?”
“Ari is the leader of our other team. They’re protecting someone close to us, and they need more muscle. But we also need you to be flexible if we need you here.”
“You want us to work for you?” Roland asks with a disbelieving tone.
“With us,” Axel corrects.
“You guys are fucking legends. This is insane,” Baxter comments. “I take it you're the leader?”
Axel nods. “I am. Cole is my second-in-command. Sean is our shadow, and Kai is the enforcer. But we’re a team. The guy we’re up against is my father, the original founder of the Saviors.”
“And my ex, Brady.”
Baxter blows out a breath. “This is fucked, but we’re in. I want that motherfucker dead.”
“We all do. I have to ask, though. When you guys told her you took care of him, what did you do?” Sean asks.
“We paid him a visit,” Roland answers. “Threw a couple of threats around, and he said he’d back off. We should have looked into it more.”
“It’s not your fault,” I say. “Brady is a little more than fucked in the head.”
“I’ve already been in contact with Ari, so he knows to expect you, but this information can’t leave this room.”
Baxter nods. “We got it.”
“Go ahead and get what you need together. I’ll have Chels send you the address.”
They nod and leave the room. I follow them out and close the office door behind me. “Are you guys sure you want to do this? This isn’t part of your job description.”
“Don’t worry about us,” Baxter smiles. “We’re fine.”
I grab their hands. “You’ve both done so much for me. I’ll never be able to tell you how much it all means to me.”
Baxter pulls me into a one-armed hug. “We’d do it all over again.”
Roland pops a kiss on the top of my head. “Sure would. Now, let us go be badass.”
I laugh. “You’re already badass.”
Roland grins, and it still surprises me how much it changes his face when his dimples pop out. “We know.”
It feels better knowing that Baxter and Roland were really on my side.
Now I just need to find out if Amber is.
