Cole steps back, and Sean steps up in front of Brady. He pulls a cigar from his vest pocket and slowly peels the plastic off. “I bought this when I found out what all the little scars were on Chelsea. I knew that one day I’d get my hands on you.”

“I’ve worked with Charlie for years. Do you really think I’m scared of you?”

“No,” Sean answers, then lights the cigar. He blows the smoke right in Brady’s face. “You’re not capable of that. Yet.” I watch Sean walk behind him and strategically place every burn to match Chelsea’s. When he stabs right in the middle of the cut, Brady screams so loud that I wince. “Tell us what we want to know.”

Brady laughs again, but it’s watery from all the snot and tears rolling down his face. “Not a chance in hell.”

Axel finally looks at me, giving me the signal that it’s my turn. I pull my favorite knife out and step up to face this asshole. I don’t say a word, just slash straight across his chest to put the final mark on him. I don’t know what my face looks like, but Brady actually looks scared now. Sean once described it as I looked like I was possessed, and in a way, I guess I am. I never let any human emotion through my shield because if I do, I’ll never be able to do what I need to.

“Start talking.” Even to my own ears, my voice sounds robotic. “I’ll peel the skin from your bones until you do.”

“I don’t have anything to say.”

With that, Axel braces his shoulder against Brady’s back to hold him still. I lay my knife flat against his chest and push down. It’s so sharp that it cuts like a hot knife through butter. As the skin peels, Brady screams. I tune him out and remove the skin slowly so it exposes muscle. I continue well after he passes out from the shock until I feel a hand land on my shoulder.

I turn around, knife out for the new enemy. My breath is sawing in and out of my lungs, so it takes me a minute to focus. When I do, Sean slowly holds his hands up. “It’s just me, Gorilla.” He places his hand on mine and lowers the knife. “Take a breath.” I take a big, shuddering breath and feel my mind start to clear. “I think he’ll be ready to talk now.”

I jerk Sean into a hug, and he grunts on impact, but his arms go around me. I feel more arms and look up to see Axel and Cole join the hug. “We’re almost done,” Axel says softly. “I’m going to wake him up and finish this. Then Chelsea can come down.”

“I love you guys,” I say roughly. “I wouldn’t have made it through this life without you.”

“We love you too, Gorilla.”

Axel kisses the side of my head and steps back. He snaps another ammonia capsule under Brady’s nose, and I brace myself before I turn around. Brady’s chest is flayed almost completely wide open, the skin hanging down. When Brady jerks awake, his breathing is shallow, still suffering from the shock. “Where’s Charlie?” Brady shakes his head weakly, and Cole hands Axel a bottle of rubbing alcohol. Axel twists the lid and then splashes it on Brady’s exposed chest. The scream Brady lets out raises the hair on my arms and neck. “Just tell me.”

“11457 White Oak Street in Abbs Valley,” Brady answers weakly. “It’s covered in security and cameras. Kill me now.”

Axel shakes his head. “Not until we find out if this is legit, and we won’t be the ones to kill you.” Axel grabs Brady’s jaw in a tight grip and lifts Brady’s eyes to his. “Chelsea will.”

“Tell us why Amber bought Micah and Evander’s houses,” I say. Brady looks shocked that we figured that out already, and looks like he’s going to clam up. I step forward, and he visibly recoils.

“He’s setting them up! The houses were never transferred out of their names. He has shit planted everywhere, and when you guys got close, he was going to call in an anonymous tip to the FBI.”

“That’s how he planned on getting rid of them so he can try to take control of Abbs Valley. The FBI would take them all out for him,” Cole says. “What about Les?”

“He has proof that Les is the Black Demon. Her guys will go down with her.”

“What’s his relationship with Amber?” Sean asks.

“I don’t know the full story…” Brady trails off like he’s going to pass out, and Sean slaps him across the face, making him swing in the chains.

“No. You don’t get that privilege,” Sean growls. “Keep talking.”

“Charlie met her when she was on the run from her family. He gave her protection in exchange for helping him. I think in his own fucked up way, he loves her.”

“What’s your relationship with her?” Axel asks.

Brady shakes his head. “She’s a piece of ass.”

Cole looks up from his phone. “Les said she’ll send some guys to check out that address. They can see if it’s legit, and we can come up with a plan to storm it.”

Brady’s head drops and Axel laughs cruelly. “Let’s have some fun while they figure it out.”

“I told you everything,” Brady whispers.

“I don’t give a fuck,” Axel barks. “You tortured the woman that we love for years. Do you really think you’re going to get a moment of peace until she finishes you off?”

“How does that fat whore have such a hold on you? I had to be paid to fuck her.”
